Do you think my old manager is sabotaging me and if so why would he be doing this?

The old managers I used as a reference that I can say I genuinely liked are now gone. One retired and the other moved out of state so I don’t know their personal contact information but I’m pretty sure they are contacting the store I worked for.

My applications are being denied over and over again. Because that manager didn’t like me despite me working as hard as I could. I would go home exhausted and he nit picked every little thing. He kept cutting my hours and expecting me to do more work in less time. He did this to other people but he would single some people out more then others. So I think he’s telling people I’m a lazy sloppy and incompetent worker. That’s getting me denied everywhere I go unless it’s a low end job
