A few months ago I recently started a job role. I am well qualified and went to university and studied a masters degree. People sometimes ask me why I’m working at this particular job when I have a masters degree as I’m over qualified. However, my manager seems to point out whenever she can that I’m stupid and incompetent at my job.
Everyone at work I get on really well with and have positive working relationships with colleagues. Except my manager. She always points out all my mistakes and flaws and never says a nice thing about my work. When she was training me on the job, she kept pointing out that I was incompetent and couldn’t work my job. I was quite nervous in my training and maybe made a lot of mistakes. However went on live at one point to work with people after my training I felt anxious on a call and made a mistake and she face palmed me to suggest I was failing.
Now I’m on the real job, and she keeps saying things which make me doubt my performance. The other day I dealt with a safeguarding query and tried to do the best job I could. Instead she just said to me “I don’t want anymore disasters from you today” and then she proceeded to “joke” about me being stupid and making mistakes, which made me feel uncomfortable and bad about myself.
The other day she called me dummy out of nowhere over the phone when I asked her a question, which took me by surprise, and then on a separate occasion she said to me “you aren’t as dumb as you seem”.
She also keeps making comments about my personal appearance. So when I upload a new photo of myself on the group, she will tell me “oh you need a new picture that one isn’t a nice one of you” or she will make comments about how often I keep changing my photo like “oh what are you like always changing your photo on here”
Why does she keep making personal digs at me?
