Do walmart workers have to do anything?

I tried to return a battery I bought that had the posts on the wrong side. The girl told me the air compressor was down at the automotive department so I guess they're closed until its fixed? That makes no sense. Everyone uses cordless tools nowadays. Apparently only the automotive department can do the return and they have different hours than the rest of the store... okay, so I say I don't see why a manager can't do the return. Apparantly all the managers were out. So I'm like well who's running the the place? Someone has to be in charge. I gave up and I guess I have to go to another location now because I'm still not clear if the automotive department is even open at all even during their normal 6am-7pm hours. I wasn't even trying to be an asshole, or making a scene about it I just didn't want to drive around with a battery inside my car for a week and have it spill which is probably what's going to happen. They're probably just told not to bother the manager I bet. I left and I was like man I need a job at this place. Probably don't have to do anything here and you still have a job the next day lol That's how it was at lowes when I worked there, but like I said I wasn't trying to be the ask a manager Karen type of person, just didn't want to have to come back again because I still have to go back to another store to bring the core back
