Are you genuinely satisfied? Why or why not...

Most of my life work was just a paycheck because other things were a priority like getting married, having and raising children, and travelling for fun.. Now since after I turned 40 and my children are teens I realises I don't want to just work a dead end job full time for rest of my life. So I began thinking about career and steps to take. I went back to college first and then am doing a degree at university whilst working a job that is a first step on the ladder of the career I want. So it's not the perfect job but I do enjoy it and it has a purpose for my future which makes it more than just a paycheck job.
I have always loved the actual work because it's what I always had a passion for. However, the people and the atmosphere sometimes is so unbearable that you end up hating to go there and do what you love.
I'm trying to start my own business to fund my passion project, but it's been really tough. I've been cold outreaching to peeps for a while, but the market sucks for it. I chose something that I don't hate, until I can do what I love. Better than. Doing something I hate until I can do the thing I love. But I haven't reaped any fruits from my efforts.
We are relatively comfortable at this point in life. I do donate a significant amount of massage session time to people who deserve it, or who couldn't really afford to get the service and healing they knead (need - yeah sorry - old, cheap massage therapy joke).
I'm genuinely passionate about my work. Guiding individuals in their educational and career journeys is deeply fulfilling for me. The opportunity to inspire and make a meaningful impact in people's lives by helping them achieve their goals brings immense satisfaction. My passion for lifelong learning and staying updated with industry trends fuels my dedication, making it more than just a paycheck. Having a positive influence in someone’s academic or career path is incredibly rewarding, and this personal fulfillment drives my enthusiasm and commitment every day.

Because it's not an actual career, as I only make around 1000 a month, since it's part time, and i never found a full time, well paying job based on what i know, no, i don't. While I like what I do, it's not survivable. I live with my parents still. I'm going back to school (ooh, that must scare all you republicucks out there). to finish my degree.
for the summer, ethics, it's a 2000 level class, which is what i need (3 of them)
yeah
Yes. I retired a couple years ago. And since I had more time on my hands then I needed I started taking up stock trading. I've used what I've learned over the past couple decades and now ask myself why I waited so long. I find myself each Friday saying I can't wait till Monday. I'm not rich but I keep improving and it's the infinite possibilities that excite me.
Nice, what were you doing before retirement?
I owned and operated a print shop. It was originally my step father's but I bought him out when he was ready to retire. I did that for about 27 years. If I had any idea where technology had been heading 27 years. Ago I never would have taken that path. It's one of the reasons I retired early. There just wasn't any money in it anymore.
Oh okay, that's interesting
It's just a paycheck though I do like it. My dream job is to be a writer but I never seem to have the time to write anything anymore. I want to get back to it but it's just hard right now.
I like to write fiction. Mostly paranormal/fantasy romance fiction. But I also want to write a take on my life and the lives of my friends because we went through so much.
I CAN be passionate about it when I am doing it as it's a great enlivener for me BUT there are elements of it that PISS me off no end and the current system I am working in FUCKS me off a lot so I am moving on to another country and system in a few months.
It is a paycheck but I also like my job and am proud of what I do I work in agriculture we're responsible for feeding the world. Few callings are higher that.
100% Paycheck. I a good worker.; but passion for my job would be sort of silly (not crazy... the rare person is. But they're weirdos).
Air Traffic Control
(kidding)
My work I love, all the outside mechanics, which I can not do a damn thing about - not so much.
Oh and why/why not.
I love being a resource for families, so they can recharge and deal with their children's disabilities and all the difficulties that follow and focus on other siblings - so they don't end up as "glass children". I love being able to be a support to the children, and help them develop skills and coping mechanisms to develop and succeed to their fullest capabilities.
I hate that they keep on taking out money from our budget, making us work more - with less, think out of the box and "make do".
And this might sound cruel: but I hate that we (society) are doing EVERYTHING possible to keep families together, with as little interference for as long as possible. This might benefit the family (parents) but it's far from always beneficial to the children, who would in fact benefit from coming to places like ours (which costs more here and now) or even be removed from their homes.
I do social work yes
I take my career very seriously. It is not just a job.
I have a couple jobs. One I love doing because it’s where my heart is, while the other is only for the money.
I'm currently jobless but when I worked I liked my last job, I worked with children and it was a good job with good hours. (it was part time).
I am pretty passionate about training the next generation of IT professionals but the money is pretty good as well.
For me it was just a paycheck. i wanted to do a good job and feel good about it, but the administers wanted to save money so they kept reducing our workers.
I love my work, and it pays very well so that helps...
@7Phoenix7 I am not sure if that is a compliment or an insult, but I'm ok either way... LOL
I enjoy my work a lot but the paycheck is of course non negotiable lol
A mix of both. I couldn't imagine not working in this field
Paycheck. All I do is make hoseclamps in a factory, not much to be passionate about.
Thankfully I was lucky enough to retire very early

Well as a professor my job can sometimes be great like when I interact with students and other times can suck like when I have to do administration stuff but overall I do like my job
Once of my jobs is ok and the other sucks but the bosses are cool. I'm preparing to quit
