If I talk to my kids in my mother tongue from the moment they’re born will they be able to learn it?

Question for the couples who speak different languages. My Partner is a native English speaker. I’m fluent in English and also a native speaker in another language. I am mixed raced, however, my mom never spoke to us or taught us her mother tongue. Growing up my parents interactions were mainly in English and that’s how I was able to learn and understand English from a very young age even though English is not my mother tongue.
It is important for me and my Partner that our kids learn different skills in life such as: they have to learn a different language, they have to get into sports and they have to learn how to play an instrument.

Since I’m fluent in another language I would like to teach my kids as I think it can be beneficial for their future and it would also be much easier for them to interact with my side of the family.
What’s the best way to teach them apart from talking to them in my mother tongue and have them watch cartoons/videos in my native language?

My girlfriend is Polish and has a son who has been brought up in the UK he speaks English and Polish but he puts an English tone to the words softening the sounding. His written polish is not very good so takes polish school on Saturdays to help.

So basically if you bring a child up speaking multiple languages if the local school system is just English you may need to get the child additional lessons in your "mother tongue" otherwise they might use English language structures to it and be illiterate in your "mother tongue" when it comes to written language.

I've seen my friend's mother giving him homeworks to teach him her language and the result was fabulous, he traveled the world, made connections, has a job he loves abroad...

I do understand but I wonder if they will actually be fluent because we live in a country where people speak either English or arabic. Apart from me they won’t have anyone else to speak my mother tongue with other than when we visit my family.

That's the best possible way to teach children multiple languages. They pick them up effortlessly without even thinking about it.
But keep speaking to them in both languages. If you stop speaking one, they will forget.

have them watch shows in that language and talk to them, they will pick it up if < 3. I've seen this happen with a relative... speaks 4 languages at 3yrs!

Absolutely they will. Young children can learn multiple languages simultaneously and will know which people understand each language. If your partner speaks English with the children, and you speak your native language, your children will be fluent in both.
