Why do people focus on bad news more than good news?

All the good things happening in the world get largely ignored, especially in news media.

There are outliers, like good news network, but they're rare, and they usually don't go into detail about anything they report on.

I believe that news stations were invented by law enforcement to spread the idea that people who commit crimes will go to jail. It is not invented for entertainment or for paid advertisement revenue during commercial breaks. The purpose of news stations is to scare criminals with stories about moral offenders being punished in jail and to warn people about natural evacuations to save lives which is why the news sounds so negative.

Nice people don't need laws.
Bad people break them.

If it was designed to scare them, its not working.
Emergency weather/natural disaster stuff I don't see as bad news because its helpful.
Constantly ranting about terrible things while ignoring everything good is not helpful though.

Miserable people are attracted to negativity. You see them on here daily. Being a grumpy sod makes them feel better about their own murky existence.
