Because the general population has become foolish enough to listen to all the Media BS and most people are rubber neckers and want to be in others business.

Good news doesn't sell. If they only told you good things you would never watch it because then people wouldn't have stuff to bitch about.

Because news stations use mainly one strategy to get attention: drama.

Drama is best defined as the intersection of anticipation and uncertainty.

When someone is anticipating and uncertain about their future it triggers the fight or flight system in the body which puts you in a mentally manipulatable state.

Not for mind control necessarily, but for keeping your attention long enough for them to get paid for showing you a paper towel commercial or listening to someone talk about something.

News is, by definition, out of the ordinary. Bad news is different, good news is not.

It really comes down to viewers and readers though. Most people watch or read more about bad news than good news, and that's what keeps media on the air.

Human mind gets attracted very easily to bad and negative stuff rather than the positives. And how else would they make money. Show drama and get the attention. That's why I stopped watching news a long time ago. Not to be ignorant but to value my peace of mind more.

The German yellow press unofficially names the most important category, the Four-T-news items: "Tiere, Titten, Tränen, Tote", which translates to "animals, tits, tears, dead persons."

Two reasons. The first is that the "news" isn't really news at all. It's a narrative, a carefully crafted narrative. And the second is that bad news is more likely to get people to act or to at least loudly demand change.

Because plain good news would be boring and wouldn't attract viewers. People want to see action and drama! Since sponsors pay based on viewership, more viewers mean more dollars! We seem to be a bunch of voyeurs!

Because the news media is supposed to grab your attention.. negativity stays on your mind longer… also they want us to live in fear… it’s all about control.

Because most won't see TV if nothing slightly thrills them of rage baits them or gets emotions out of them.

Cause the networks don't actually care about the news. Their only priority is views and ratings.

If bad news is what ramps those up then thats what they show.

More bad news, because fear mongering became somehow highest goal of mainstream media.

Bad news scares people, makes them pay attention, makes them watch. That makes money.

There is an old saying in the newspaper business, and now all media, apparently: "If it bleeds, it leads". -30-
