How do people with learning disabilities get a job?

i knew this guy. he couldn't learn because he had dyslexia or some problem. he wasn't stupid but average. he went through remedial education but graduated from a college somehow? i saw him after and he was just as stupid as before. there was no change at all. but he was accepted into a hotel management training program at a big hotel. he was above moderately successful, but they wouldn't let him do a real job. he ended up as the hospitality manager. he lasted awhile somehow and i think he eventually got fired or quit once his parents passed. he probably had at least a million and a half inheritance.

he now does his dream job. and i hate that i was complicit in this guys success

The same way normal people get jobs. I may be on the autistic spectrum, but I graduated from high school and college with flying colors. I think 60 credit hours are enough for me to get a fine job!

There’s services made for that, like vocational rehabilitation is a public service through which a person with any disability, physical or learning or otherwise, is able to find a job willing to pay them for certain tasks that fit their needs and skillsets. I used to work in this field, I had a few clients with physical limitations, some mental too, but we were able to find work for a good chunk of them.

I was in vocational rehab for a year. I had to quit the job they helped me to get. Now I'm trying to get back in to vocational rehab.

Like anyone else it doesn't slow you down unless you let it i have a reading and writing learning disability and I've also had 12 years od speech therapy but I've had a job since I was 16 I did fast food was even a manger and did all the hiring and training then recently started working in a dealership in thr parts department

I tried applying but the applying process has been too hard for me.

Im a professional of 30 years experience in 4 countries at many levels and had to apply to dozens if positions, go through multiple interviews and tests then offered 2 posts. One in US the other Portugal. I'm moving 2000 miles to Portugal in August so don't give up. There's something out there for you

It can feel like that searching for a job. The lack of a response to applications without feedback is frustrating

I hear you. Career counselling and assistance with application could help. Trust me working isn't all it's cracked up to be.
