Skilled trades should be paid according to what they charge. I know a lot of schools work like the military and sign contracts with outside sources, which allows them to charge enormous amounts of money, because, "you're under contract". There is a reason for that but if the market is opened, the way it should be, I think the end result would be the same. As far as student teachers, they should be paid by the district. At least for a certain amount of time.

It they ALREADY have an undergraduate degree and their teaching qualification is a postgraduate course then yes, it's appropriate to pay them. If the undergraduate course and the teaching qualification is a single degree then no.

Doctors who have qualified are paid while they specialise because they are sacrificing as much as another ten years of earning to become the top surgeons and physicians. But without teachers they wouldn't be doctors in the first place.

Is a student teacher a student that just helps teachers while between classes? If so no, in my opinion. If they teach some days and do classes some days sure. Why wouldn't they get paid?

They in theory have total control of the class (es) unpaid while simultaneously paying the university for tuition but not take ng ANY classes as the student teaching is worth 15 credits

Unions dont pay anyone accept their own employees.
