If teachers have a contract that says they are legally not allowed to strike, if they go on strike should they be fired?

A local town is dealing with an illegal teachers strike. They always wait until a week after the kids go back to school because parents have already cancelled their daycare and have to miss work and stay home with their kids. They will call the school committee and tell them to give them what they want and finish this. It happened in my town years ago when my kids were in school. I called the chairman of the school committee and told him that he needs to hang tough and not cave in to their demands. I told him that my wife and I would work as substitute teachers. He really was appreciative of my support but they caved anyway,. I ran into him at the dump and went over and introduced myself. He apologized but told me that so many people called not only him but the other members and they decided that it needed to be settled.

I think that they should be told that whoever is not in the classroom on Monday, don;t bother coming back. They could easily fill all these positions in a week.
