How do I handle judgement from employers about my spent criminal record stopping me from applying for jobs?

Long story cut short I made mistakes in my younger years and have had no criminal record for over 5 years. However employers don't want to hire me and when they find out some of them even fire me understandably. But this has effected my feeling of belonging in the corporate world. Should I stop applying for admin roles and start small again? How do I handle judgement without feeling embarrassment? Also I have a MSc in neuroscience and ideally would love to find a job in my field. My record will be clean in 7 years… but till then I have these issues above… please help 🙏 thank you for reading all this God bless you.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I don't know what country you live in, but here in the US certain crimes can be expunged from your record by a judge before 7 years. My friend did this so he could get a job. You have to file a motion or petition or whatever it's called with the district attorney's office to request the judge to review the case for expungement. Usually if you haven't done any stupid shit since your sentence and explain why it's impacting your life, they often grant it but it depends on the nature of the crimes. Most misdemeanors can be expunged but most felonies cannot, unless you have an attorney with major pull with the judge.

Things like drunk driving, under the influence, drug possession, petty theft, getting into a fight, etc can usually be expunged at the judge's discretion. Violent crimes, felony drug possession, grand theft, and repeat offenses of most things usually will not.
