Kindergarten and elementary school students treat their teachers as legitimate authority figures and will do pretty much anything they say.

Middle schoolers, on the other had, are rebellious, testing their roles in society. Plus, their hormones are just starting to kick in, which confuses them without realizing what is happening.

High school kids fall into two camps: those that want to learn and do just that, without being disrespectful; and those that don't want to be there, who will either drop out or learn it's pointless to rebel because that either gets them more work to do or just ignored.
