Have you ever taken the TOEFL, an English proficiency test?

I believe most people over here have not because most are Americans.

But if you have taken that test, how did you prepare for it?

I'm taking TOEFLibt Home edition after 2 weeks and I'm struggling with the reading section. Also slightly in speaking section but it's just because I'm so goddamn shy to talk infront of a laptop. How should I prepare for the reading part though? The passages are so much more complex than my Indian school English test reading passages. It feels like I'm reading without registering anything.

Nope, it's an English proficiency test which is required by Universities teaching in English (mostly UK, and American and I guess Australian Universities too) from students who comes from a non-English speaking countries or those who didn't complete their education in English. And it is also required to get a visa for English speaking countries.

For some universities, it is not necessary for an Indian student to give the TOEFL test if they completed their education in an English medium school and attained good grades in their final English test but many require it. So as I'm applying for UK universities, I'm also taking that test.
