Do you think autism could be an explanation as to why one might find it difficult to hold a job?

I have autism. I was diagnosed when I was 18. It made sense because I've always had trouble making friends, and fitting in in general. I also have terrible social skills. I've had many jobs, and have never held one for more than a year. Mostly because my co workers end up not liking me, because I have bad social skills, and dont fit in with the rest of them. Maybe I come off as rude, but I always end up having a breakdown, and then quit. I've also always had learning disabilities, and that carries over to learning jobs. Again, when I can't learn something as quick as someone would like, most of them get frustrated with me. I've had employers scream at, and insult me in front of customers. I've been applying for jobs, and even got a few interviews. During the interviews, ie would stutter, say strange things, and not really know how to answer questions, and read social skills. Im pretty sure my autism plays a part in all of this. I've always considered myself a fucking loser. Im not trying to use my autism as an excuse, but more of an explanation I guess.

yes if you are difficult socially. but I don't like sticking labels on things, which ends up controlling you. Id rather explore and resolve root issues, so you are free and become your best self. Don't live in a trap mindset, live in freedom.

I was bad socially and I had to heal emotionally, so that I could grow in compassion and empathy and learn social skills.

The issue is simply you have not grown emotionally nor developed the skills.

take a look back at your life, have you experienced traumas... being hurt, bullied, abused, put down, or other tragedies. made oaths, vows and such, felt like you are a bad person and that seemed reinforced. If any of that rings, then there's room to heal those inner emotional hurts, change how you view yourself, how you view others, and greatly improve your social engagement.

Yeah, I mean I'm self-employed but know I wouldn't hack being an employee and was working when no one would hire me because I was 8

There's plenty of people that actually have autism and hold steady jobs with no issues.
