How much harder is it to find a job in your country compared to the past?

Is it still easy, or have you lost your job to AI or to Indians?

Pretty damn hard here in Ontario, Canada. I used to be able to get a sales job, a job in retail, or a warehouse job in absolutely no time. Took me maybe a week to go from an interview to a job. Nowadays, it's close to impossible to get one. Been applying forever. Even my 15 year old nephew can't get one.

AI is quickly replacing jobs that can be done online. All those remote job employees that handle either admin or data entry work are being let go and replaced with AI.

And all the lower end, entry level jobs have been taken by Indians here in Canada. Canadians have a joke about Tim Horton's being Singh Hortons now and that Canada is India 2.0. When you go anywhere now, it's always a mass of Indians.

This change is forcing people to create their own businesses and be self sufficient, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but during the time when you have no income, it can be hard on those who you're dependent on to continue supporting you.

Indians: they are no match to my own qualification - also: their cultural traits are against them.
AI: actuaĺy solidifies my position, as they are partner to me... and not 'competitition'.
Your question indicates that some people are around who 'don't have what is needed in the 21st century. Pity them, but in the lower ranks they still can make sense.
What indeed has become harder: to find a job that satisfies my own professional expectations ( kind of solid no-nonsense/no- noise approach).

I don't know, indian's never threaten my job because they can't speak my language and are generally seen as poorly skilled. AI can't do my job either so its not a threat, and unlikely to become one because sysadmins were always shit at sharing real solutions online so its impossible for AI to be trained on the answers. But I haven't had to look for a job since AI became popular.

Good question. At a time I could go to the pub after a professional association meeting and mention I was less than happy with my current position and find recruitment agencies cold calling me next day. Now it can take me a year.

Indian companies but it is also due to companies preferring cheap bums on seats over and above expertise.

Dead easy. But then I spilled out of school in the middle of a recession that saw youth unemployment of 20%. Everything seems easy.

Getting a 'good' job with an upward career trajectory is not trivial though. A lot of university parchments don't get you entry to anything but uber driving. Not knocking uber drivers, but let's face it, your career isn't going anywhere... even if your job is.

So it’s not that much worse


But its not getting better either
