Depends on how much my property is worth.

If I have an expensive property, I'd rather pay the monthly fee, because otherwise I'm paying more than others for the same schools.

If I have a less expensive property, I'd rather pay property tax and let others make up the difference.

With property tax, everyone pays the same rate but not the same amount.
