One job might not be enough for financial and living stability. I noticed over the years I met people who has more than one job. It is becoming more common now.

Yup, for sure, wages have NOT kept up with the cost of living. Particularly in the housing market, rent is sky high, and people are struggling to pay their mortgages. Some are even calling our era a 2nd gilded age, where the ultra wealthy own far more wealth than the majority of the population.

Something needs to be done about this, the biggest one being taxing the rich. Zohran Mamdani is showing us all a blueprint of how this can be done despite all the oligarchs hoping for his downfall. My hope is he inspires more like him to run and get into positions of power. You know the saying history doesn’t repeat but it rhymes? Well what followed the first Gilded Age was the progressive era. My hope is we have a new progressive era where we rein in these awful even monstrous billionaires through mass taxation and redistribute the wealth among the rest of us.

but I've lived long enough to see the switch

America went from exploiting other countries... to exploit their own middle-class, for many other countries around the world... this kind of struggle has always been there, so now... Americans get to experience it first hand, themselves... lol

Umm... kind of. The problem is that the careers people chose to pursue were based on a set on false assumptions. The jobs were never really there.

One job was never going to work unless you work for the government. Civil servant job.

Now with AI will we discover 50% of roles no longer exist. They are done by AI

Then there's the Chinese equivalent which are taking over the Western AI

As software developer myself, I'm thinking there will still be jobs
But one person can do 10 times the amount

I've got one job, and it covers my costs for now, but it's depressing. I'm underpaid and underappreciated. I'm looking at getting started as a landlord. If that goes tits up, though, I'm looking at other opportunities.
