Why is everyone so career oriented these days?

Don't get me wrong i wanna be rich to, but you gotta slow down and enjoy what you have today because as my dad says you only live once. Working yourself to death and not enjoying the sunshine is bad for your health, relationships and even more so for tjhe ones that worry about you. I don't wanna grow old alone, nor do i wanna die alone it sounds and looks sad. What happen to marriage, what happen to raising a family, why are there so many mothers who are alone and so many fathers not giving a damn? What happen to love and happiness? Its like everyone is miserable and the ones that aren't are becoming that or getting drag into BS

I agree that living life is important and working to death is useless, but the thing is, a lot of people LOVE their job and their job is what makes them happy.
A lot of people aren't interested in marriage and they don't need marriage or children of their own to be happy. In fact, getting married and later divorced, with tons of lawsuits and fights over custody is a disaster and a huge source of bitterness, so if you ask me, I'd prefer never getting married.
Also, a lot of people don't work a lot because they want to, but because they need to in order to support their family. Life is expensive.

Because getting into a job or career that you like seems to be important in life. But there's lots of other important things, as you stated. But one thing I've noticed relationship wise is that some don't want to date, don't want to commit, and/or don't believe in love (I could prove the last one wrong any day. lol). We should also keep in mind that most work places expect their people to work almost full time everyday. Which leaves less time for anything else except coming home to make dinner and go to bed. Another thing I notice is people saying life seems to be boring and dull too. Even though there's a million fun things to do in life.

Probably because of the dating world and how society is with dating? I’m not competing with Gen X or Z it’s becoming rare to find traditional so I’m a traditional women whose left behind with the rest of the world. I’m thinking about going overseas because everything is westernized and corrupted

Well you're raised to believe that careers are all there is to life, which isn't true. For me I couldn't care less if I were a hobo on the beach of Hawaii or a millionaire with a yacht living on my own personal island. Careers are pretty important but so is having fun :)

It’s what you do 40 hours a week, so naturally people want to make sure it’s something good. But you’re right, it can be obsessive, just working the hours away, waiting to die, when you could be jumping out a plane without a parachute on or feeding sharks from the side of a rowing boat. People need to live a little.

I'm kinda busy myself currently, but it's only a period. Besides it's stuff I love.

It's just my education is ending in a internship, and we live off grid, so that takes time too.

Luckily I know it's ending soon, and I can go back to chilling out again in the summer

Because the cost of living isn't getting any better. There is a lot of gentrification going on and if you want to live somewhere decent to raise a family it cost.

Secondly, your focus shouldn't be chasing some man around. Men come and go and are not reliable individuals at all.

Because society revolves around money. And a career gives a push towards success. And success means money. And money equals happiness.

money isn't happiness, its a means to a end. Yes it can bring things that can make you for a while happy but not forever. What happens when you brought everything you wanted?

Then you spend time with the people you love. Would you rather have money? Or be homeless? If your homeless, you can’t afford anything or buy anything. But if you have money, you can do way more and archive more. That’s all I’m saying. Money and careers give you an advantage at life.
