I would understand that when they earn a lot of money so they can say with 35 or 40. Fu... that all I want living now with all that money I earned before. However when someone starts to talk about carrier while getting average slave wage, I just think "you will even with 40 earn just average slave wage either, promising great carrier indeed. lol"
I'm financially good positioned, maybe I don't understand people who talk about career. The term "carrier" sounds like some justification to make sacrifices to their employers, while deep inside they know it's just their dependency to income they need.
Making false promised is a part of motivation in capitalist societies, don't be illusory it's not.
Now back to the question "Why do people choose their career over everything?"
Because they have not many other options.

A career is a way to sustain a life. For men, careers are almost the only way to sustain a life. As such, they have to make their career one of the most important things. Women rarely have to choose a career. Almost all women can instead choose to find a man that will sustain their life.

  • People may choose their career over everything else due to the fulfillment and identity it provides. A career often offers a sense of accomplishment and purpose. For many, it’s not just a means to earn a living but also a path to personal growth and satisfaction. The stability and opportunities for advancement that a successful career can offer are enticing. Additionally, one's career can align with personal values and passions, heightening its importance. Balancing a career with other aspects of life remains crucial to long-term satisfaction and well-being.

Why don’t women just let men have careers? y'all can just go shopping and lay out by the pool while the man has more jobs to choose from, they would pay more because relatively few women left in the industry, and suddenly, wow the man is now the provider that you want!

We want to provide, but these days we largely can’t due to a the way the entire job force is managed. We split all the resources with women, and then when it comes to dating and forming relationships, that doesn’t happen either and we’re all stuck with less. The way women are encouraged to be boss women and not stay and home mothers and wives, which is a job in itself and a very necessary one. Do you see how messed up this world is because so many children have had broken shells of upbringings? Men want feminine women, not feminists.

We need to return to traditionalism and accept our roles as men and women. Men accept them, why don’t women? I am not bashing women. I’m not saying they don’t deserve equal rights, if anything it is a privilege to not have to work traditionally. I wish I could afford to sit at home, pursue hobbies and do fun little tasks and chores to enhance my downtime but somewhere we’ve been led astray I fear.

People forget why they are even working…. To better their own lives and/or their families. Some people work because they’re genuinely passionate about the work they do, many really aren’t.

Many people start chasing money. Status. Success. They loose sight of everything else. People are also pressured from a young age including women now. Which…. I’m not against women working. But many people can’t balance relationships and work and I’m taking men too.

When that all takes over. Work is all they do…. They eat sleep and shit work. A job they aren’t even passionate about. Besides getting money and status. Getting that new promotion. As the job dangles carrots

I guess its like a leeway into focusing on goals and things that aspire them even when one day it stops being necessary in such as the same way. Some people worry that if they invest in something non-productive and independent such as working they could become complacent and start needing validation from family, their partner above all else.

Many people have very little desire to be married/ have kids, especially in the modern world. Inflation is through the roof, literally everything is outrageously expensive, and many people feel that they can't provide the same upbringing for their children that they had themselves. Yes, kids are rewarding to some, but they are fucking expensive

Soem people are programmed since birth to buy into the bullshit about being defined by your career and the big emphasis there is on wealth. Success is usually measured by how much money you make.

Social conditioning. It's not everyone, lots of people live to work, fewer work to live.

Good question but let me improve it, why do women place career as a higher priority than taking care of her kids when a man is around to support them?
