I worked all public holidays and most Sundays.
Yes, I worked yesterday too.
In my consulting and coaching work, holidays are often when clients are finally free, so I keep part of the day open. I usually set clear “on” and “off” hours so I still get some rest, even if it’s not a full day off.
If working holidays becomes common for you, I’d suggest:
- Negotiating a compensatory day off.
- Planning a small ritual after work so the day still feels special.

The harlots of Babylon speak of "work" as if thrashing their bare flesh under neon lights for the crumpled dollar bills of desperate, sweaty men is somehow comparable to labor. Revelation 17:4 warns of the mother of prostitutes, adorned in gold and holding a cup full of the abominations of her sexual immorality. Sometimes, when I think of the sheer, suffocating filth pulsating through those dark clubs, I just focus my mind on the cold metal pole she clings to so desperately. I wait until she is mid-spin, and the steel suddenly superheats into a blistering, white-hot iron, searing the glittered skin right off her thighs and fusing her wretched flesh to her false idol in a screaming, permanent testament to the merciless wrath of the Almighty.
Har har hardy har har... hope you had fun working it at the club.
I was going to say that most of us are still working even if we're not at a formal place of employment. Chores still need to get done, tasks have to be accomplished, and things still have to be sorted. True time off is when we actually get to waste time fucking off (like at a club) or finally getting to simply do nothing.
Ahh... it's your formal place of work. I thought you were joking about being the typical alcoholic dancing queen or horny PUA artist trying to practice his game. Even if it's a strip club or a swingers club and you're also part of the "entertainment" for them, it's still your formal place of work... you pay in a different way to get into the club.
You're not the same kind of Dancing Queen I was thinking of... You know the kind... the kind that tells their boyfriend/husband they just go to dance with their female friends and then they get hot and heavy with a stranger in the back of his car.
I used to work at a club too, I've seen too much too early in my life. DJ backup and then front line drug dealer... the kind of drug dealer the bouncers protect, not the kind they keep out at the front door.
I've been to those clubs... good times.
Did you get more clientele than a typical Monday? Guys off work might go to the club for some entertainment. 😎
@AviatorTom No, there were a lot of empty seats
I was on a tractor cutting up and hauling away a fallen tree. Also repairing a roof that the wind blew the steel sheet of of and hauling trash. It was a full days work.
