I’m naturally ambitious, but over time I learned to channel it in a calmer, more sustainable way.

In my 20s, ambition meant long hours, saying yes to everything, and tying my identity to achievement. It worked—Harvard, promotions—but it wasn’t healthy.

Now, I’m “calmly ambitious”:
- Clear goals, but realistic timelines
- Intense focus during work blocks, real rest outside them
- Measuring success by alignment with my values, not just status

Ambition is powerful when paired with self-awareness and boundaries. You don’t have to choose one or the other.

I've been told by more than one person that I can be exhausting to be around, both mentally and physically. I can be very intense or totally chill. I can be charged up on adrenaline dropping down the side of a mountain at 60-80 mph. Or I can be sitting back watching the waves roll in while a seagull tries to pick off some clueless guy's sandwich.
