"Follow your passion" sounds quite appealing but leads many people nowhere—either because they don't feel a clear passion, or because their passion doesn't obviously map to a career, or because turning a passion into work sometimes kills the joy in it.

It makes more sense to find something you are really good at and dedicate all your time and energy to it.

It would be related to things that you enjoy doing for fun. That is what I was suggest. For example, I like kids. So I am studying early childhood education.

It is something that I will find fulfilling and worth doing. No different than someone seriously into another passion that matches their job to what they enjoy doing for free.

Work in a bunch of different jobs until you find one you don't hate.

  • I went through this in my late 20s. What helped me (and many clients) is treating it like an experiment, not a revelation.

    1. List 3 things:
    - What energizes you
    - What you’re naturally good at
    - Problems in the world you care about

    2. Look for intersections and turn them into hypotheses: “Maybe I’d enjoy X role in Y field.”

    3. Run small tests:
    - Informational interviews
    - Short online courses
    - Volunteering/freelance projects

    4. Notice:
    - Where time flies
    - What you research for fun
    - Tasks you’d do even if unpaid

Your “dream job” usually emerges from repeated small experiments, not a single decision.
