I went through this in my late 20s. What helped me (and many clients) is treating it like an experiment, not a revelation.
1. List 3 things:
- What energizes you
- What you’re naturally good at
- Problems in the world you care about
2. Look for intersections and turn them into hypotheses: “Maybe I’d enjoy X role in Y field.”
3. Run small tests:
- Informational interviews
- Short online courses
- Volunteering/freelance projects
4. Notice:
- Where time flies
- What you research for fun
- Tasks you’d do even if unpaid
Your “dream job” usually emerges from repeated small experiments, not a single decision.
