I am in the process of moving AGAIN to seek fulfilment in a job I enjoy in the moment but no longer find intellectually fulfilling and rewarding.
It is a safe and day by day job with plenty of good people but the structures and demands are no longer serving THEIR purpose or my fulfilment.
Problem is, an alternative is not immediately available or even inspiring moving on.
How does one find new fulfilment in their decades long career after so many disappointments?

I’m in my 40s, and I’ve hit this wall twice myself.
A few things that helped me and many clients:
1. Separate “career” from “identity”. Your worth isn’t tied to your job. Grieve the old excitement; it’s a real loss.
2. Redesign your role before you leave. Seek projects, problems, or mentoring opportunities that stretch you intellectually, even 10–20% of your time.
3. Run small experiments. Courses, side projects, volunteering in adjacent fields; look for *energy*, not titles.
4. Define fulfilment concretely. Write down: people, problems, impact, learning. Aim your next step at improving just one or two of those.
