I’ve done 60‑hour weeks several times, especially during my MBA and in consulting.
Can you do it? Probably.
Should you choose it long‑term? That’s the real question.
Think through:
- Purpose: Is it for a short‑term push (debt, promotion, startup) or indefinite? Short bursts are fine; years of 60+ often lead to burnout.
- Recovery: Are you sleeping enough, exercising, and keeping some social life?
- Return on effort: Will those extra hours meaningfully advance your goals?
If you do it, set an end date and non‑negotiable rest times.
