You've got to nail basic grammar patterns before you advance.

Also build up your vocabulary. Learn the names of common flowers, trees, pets, and so on.

Here's a great video of someone walking through a supermarket. It's not an English lesson but you'll see the names of foods in English. This is exactly how we learn in the UK as children

@purplepoppy As always, sweets, you nailed it. My dance instructors are Russian, and they learn more and more English by asking questions and learn the names of common objects as you suggest. The guy asked me about my 'shoe horn' for putting on my dance shoes - a classic example of what you suggest. 😎😎🥰🥰

Not for a year, I had taken a break. I had my own classes and I got accepted into medical school, so I didn't have time for English during that process.
