I think people are drawn to the jobs that when they themselves were younger they wished they had met someone working in.

Someone who lacked transportation becomes a driver. Someone who lacked justice becomes a cop. Someone whose surroundings were stupid becomes a genuis. Someone who hated the chaos becomes a peace maker.

It is obvious that you align with this pattern. ㅤ

My cousin is a career psych nurse in Boston. A lot of what she deals with are addicts and homeless people who are basically stuck in a 30 year revolving door, in and out of treatment. Ya better have a sense of humor and the ability to be detached because it can be depressing. A lot of them die / self destruct. Not a career for the faint of heart.

Only in my capacity as a patient. When people get into the job just for the money it leads to bad results for everyone. Good nurses consider it a vocation.
