Did you use Spark Notes or Cliff Notes for your literature classes when you were in school? Did your teachers allow it or did they not?

We weren't allowed to use them. I never used them in high school...but I did once in college 😬

I used Cliffs Notes sometimes. It was allowed as long as we could formulate our own thoughts on a particular book. If it was clear that we didn’t read the book at all or that we were just flat out plagiarizing, it was an automatic zero.
I just found it difficult to evaluate most books that i didn’t choose for myself. If i got my choice, it was easy. If the book was assigned, or i was slow to select so my first choices were taken by others, i didn’t hesitate to lean on Cliffs Notes for an objective evaluation and discussion points.
Reclam notes. :-) I think they were allowed in the senior classes (11-13).
