What was the answer to the riddle (Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame)?

I watched the Hunchback of Notre Dame for the first time in years (you can say it was a nostalgic experience...) I listened to the song closely and the end Clopin, the clown looking guy, said a riddle in the first song, "The Bells of Notre Dame". He says "who is the monster and who is the man..." What was the answer to the riddle. He also says it again at the very end of the movie. Do you guys know? If so tell ke because I was confused.
