Band I want to see is The Who, they're loud as fuck so being able to hear the music is not a concern
Are floor seats at a concert worth it?

What's the price difference, what are the alternatives? What's the venue?
I don't think you'll be doing much sitting at The Who concert, if I was picking the tickets I'd be looking for something as close to the center as possible, preferably close to the mixing board for best sound quality. If you're not going to be right up close, might as well go for what's going to sound the best. It's not an issue of being able to hear them, but quality of sound.
I saw Van Halen a few years back and had good seats, as far as being fairly close to the stage and slightly elevated off the ground, but we were so far to the side (this was an arena show) that most of the sound was going into one ear, and the echo muddied the sound a bit. Not a bad show, but the sound was just "OK". I'm sure being further back but towards the center would have sounded clearer and been more enjoyable.
Also, I paid big bucks (hundreds of dollars) for floor tickets about 15 rows back for Roger Waters when he was doing The Wall. It was great being so close to the band and everything, but The Wall is a very visual show, lots of lights and projections (and a giant wall that gets built and knocked down, I'm sure you know the story). Because we were so close to the stage, we missed out on a big part of the show since it was like sitting in the front row of a movie theater. For a show like Pink Floyd or Rush (as far as visuals, neither of those bands tour any more) I think being further back (again, centered) is BETTER than being close up because you get to see the light show, the lasers, the pyrotechnics, the projections, etc.
No matter where you sit, you'll have a great time and will always remember the concert B-)
Bought my tickets. Will be sitting not on the floor but off to the left of the stage. It's a smaller venue (for them I guess) so I'll still have a good view and all I'm thinking. thanks for your reply!
Awesome, have a blast!
I fucked up and missed Soundgarden a couple of weeks back. "Oh yeah, I'll catch them next time around."

You can guess how I feel about that decision now.
Get out there and see the bands you like no matter what the seats are. I can't say I've ever gone to a concert and not had a great time even if the sound or the view wasn't good.
