Ok so, incase you guys did not know, Ariana Grande uses a TON of spray tan. She is white (to be more specific Italian), but a lot of people think she is latina or even half black. Of course there is nothing wrong with a little spray tan, but do you think for her to change her skin color this drastically is a little offensive? Especially considering she is in the hip hop/pop/rnb market where people of color usually tend to be more successful than white people. Here are some with spray-tan and without spray-tan photos:
With Spray tan: (She is literally as dark as Nicki Minaj here, but more orangey)
Without spray tan (her natural skin color):

She is pretty much wearing blackface, isn't she? And if it's not supposedly not offensive for her, then why should it be offensive to wear blackface (or skin lighteners, for that matter)? If I applied that much spray tan to myself, darkened my skin by that amount, then I could easily pass myself off as a black man, and I'd be far more attractive for it, especially in the eyes of girls (as opposed to being light-skinned enough for people to assume automatically that I'm either fully Indian- the absolute worst race to be as a man- or half-white, as opposed to being half-black). So why shouldn't I?

@Maxemeister I've seen a lot of people on tumblr get upset about her spray-tan, but then again people on tumblr tend to be overly defensive. I need to get off tumblr more lol
Not offensive. She looks better tanned, but it's kind of funny that pale people try to look darker while darker people try to go towards her original color.
No... I think you can overdo it with the fake tan on a visual level but generally people understand it doesn't come from a place of hate or mocking like blackface is. I think it really suits her actually, probably because of her italian heritage. She's like me, got the dark italian features but not the skin colour, so tanning doesn't look as out of place.
She made a joke about how she's glad everybody showed up to her quincenera and she didn't even say it correctly, she's black when it's convenient for her, Latina when it's convenient, and white rockin blonde hair and paper white skin when she's shooting photos for Vogue, and she got a Japanese tattoo for her 7 rings video which was supposed to say 7 rings but instead it said BBQ grill lol.
Indon't think that's offensive. I think it is dishonest and scummy.
But my opinion on her really can't get any lower. I already pointed out several times that he has tweeted about men being household objects and in general hating men, so spray tan to look like a minority is just the tip of the iceberg.

Regardless the fact that minorities are successful is nothing surprising, they live in America.
And most obese people are not struggling with a health condition but with a "I can't stop stuffing my face" condition.
It doesn't make one offensive of the other. Which is why, as written, I don't believe one should spray paint themselves to such a point. (Nor should one feast to the point of potential death.)
How do you know it is spray tan? I live in a white slavic country and people often get WAY darker than this from the sun.
Are you victims going to place monopoly on basic human biology now too or what?

It's spray-tan she has admitted to spray-tanning, and there are even pictures of her spray-tan being messed up and melting. Just to let you know I did my research
People often use products which can alter their skin tone. I don't see this as offensive, and I don't think her intention is to offend or deceive people. I don't see the issue here.
Yes I'd consider it offensive, as a woman of color myself. Women of European descent who use spray tanning to the extent that they pass as a WoC are pretty much lying to the world that they are white and that they benefit from white privilege. Many comments on here are coming from white people so that's why they aren't offended by the way.
I don't get it. What is supposed to be offensive here? And offensive to who exactly?

Personally I'm not saying i think it is offensive or not, but some people think it is because people of color tend to be more successful in the hip hop/pop/rnb biz. So when Ariana tans to the point of looking ethnic, it helps her in the business, and she is no longer looked at as a dumb white child star trying to be cool. I don't know the whole thing is debatable, I just wanted some opinions.
Well I naturally have the same skin color as her when she's tanned and I don't find it offensive at all. I just hope all these chemicals aren't too bad for her skin.
Thanks for your opinion especially coming from someone who is that color. I personally don't understand why people are so mad about it. Like I understand it's kinda drastic, but it's not like an act of evil.

Was it offensive when Michael Jackson changed his skin color? No. And this isn't either. I don't know how this could upset someone. If she wants to be tanned, then let her be tanned.

I understand your point, but MJ never voluntarily changed his skin color, his skin color changed because he had a skin disorder
