I did not even understand their convo as a kid. In this video I found a comment writing down what the ducks said and I was... Mind blown. Literally.

I could understand their talking.

I could not understand their talking before but now I do.

I still don't understand their talking.

A rough translation of their convo:
Baby duck: "That's the big old cat that's been chasing me all day! Every time he gets out he gets this big great ax and he goes wham, wham, wham, wham! That's what he does"
Mom: he did?

Mon calls"Henry!" and says "Now I was minding my own business and this big cat has ran over me with a lawn mower, see? And he acts smart, too."
Henry:he did? *chases Tom with lawn mower*

Usually, I don't. Maybe Tom and Jerry is more about body language and jokes for kids through silly actions than understanding what's actually they are saying or developing an idea about the story because our language system isn't that much developed at that level.

I never understood their convo. Could be because I don't speak English a d couldn't understand English in other cartoons as well, but whatever.

Well you don't have to know English to understand Tom and Jerry. The communication is almost completely based on character gestures in it. Only some characters like Spike, Tom's owner and sometimes Nibbles had any dialogues. 😄

None of the Tom and Jerry cartoons I watched had any conversation in them. It was simply a matter of Tom's chasing Jerry around and getting his comeuppance.
