it is from Renaissance art 'Death and the Maiden' originally conceived by Hans Baldung.
depicted many times in art . music . ballet . movies and literature ...
the one at the top is a modern version by P J Lynch
Death being a representation of the Catholic church and faith . inspired that God gives us
the 'beauty of death' for eternal after-life . or simply Death representing all that is evil .
it is clearly a symbolic allegory of the perversions of Death and evil ::: Death stalking
exploiting and attempting to steal the innocence and purity of a beautiful young girl :::
to seduce and consume her for her eternal youth for Death's desires and need for immortality .
In his paranoia zeal and mental delusions he greeds and lusts for the maiden . He lies to her
about his devotion to her . he wants her approval to his luring seductions . He dances with her
with macabre sensuality in the hopes she will submit . a medieval erotic dance of Beauty and Death
is the imagery . if she does not submit he will simply torture her like a witch . or he will infect
her with the plague of the black death and watch her slowly die .

I think it's a representative of life and death like everyone else, but also want to not that I think it also highlights the dynamic of the world really. The paradox of things. There is always an opposite to something for the most part.
Life to death, Dark to light, Logic to emotion, Chaos to order, and etc. It's you and yang really. The things that make existence whole. I think so anyway.
Well there is in a manner of speaking no right answer to interpreting symbolism in art it is all very subjective
Though there are commonly accepted symbolism
I think in this case it would be the opposites
Women are lifegivers in a symbolic sense as they give birth and bring life into the world
Death of course removes life from the world
It is opposite and dualistic imagery
Furthermore in the past bringing life into the world was a great risk to a woman's life as well so in a sense there is a certain dualism there as well and a risk undertaken flirting with death to bring life
But really as there isn't a right answer there also isn't any wrong answer
I think it means that even skeletons can get boners, if you know what I mean, I'm just kidding...
I think it's used to represent that even a personification of death can be taught to be full of life and hope with the love and affection that it receives from a woman that something as vastly viewed as the harshest punishment a person could receive (which I don't agree with) could be turned to be a better image... Also, its worse to see a young child or woman die rather than an older man so instead of her life being taken away, she sacrifices it to "save" so many other people from death by practically curing it with love...

Because death was often represented as a woman in many cultures. In the Scandinavian ones your fylgja/valkyrie was who came to collect you. She was usually represented as a lover you were reuniting with through death.
without life, there cannot be death. A woman gives birth to new life, and the reaper gives death.
The way I see it, women can bring life into the world through childbirth and death is the other side of that coin. One cannot be without the other as its the human condition. We live and we die.
Death - dreadful and unfortunate event.
Maiden - nothing is as full of life as a young and alluring woman. Moreover, a woman is the most beautiful creation of God.
So when death meets a maiden it's like clash of " the harshest and the most delicate". Or " ugliest vs prettiest".I have no ideea.. maybe love doesn't end after death? Or you must be an angel for someone you love? But a devil to people you dont care. I have no ideea
Damn. Even back then women were known to find men who are dead inside.
Innocence lost
Died at birth
Youth fading
Female related tragediesBeast and thw Harlot to me, death usually associated with hell and I think to a degree death is another form of the devil as death was one of the four horsemen. And the Harlot the one to carry his child. I'm assuming maybe wrong
I think the meanings of an art work can be subjective. Depending on what the artist/owner of the painting or drawing was conveying
it means that however much of an instagram diva self obsessed vain creature you are, you still going to end up as worm food ;)
I think it symbolizes flirting with death. Or maybe it's just some morbid fantasy or something.
Also, you should keep in mind that -especially in the middle ages- both marriage and death were seen as eternalTo me it's symbollic of the beginning and end of life.
Probably giving on the symbol of lust, which is said to be part of one of the seven "deadly" sins
A woman is beautiful and can be made to believe anything, unlike a strong man, which is why spirits of death love women.
learn your greek mythology and psychology : Eros and Thanatos -> in psychology sex and death are closely related
The woman brings life into this world, and death takes them out of it.
There is a constant dance and relationship between birth and death. When you look into a woman's eyes, death is peering over their shoulder right at you.
I'd guess that it would be two contrasting ideas. Death and Beauty. Or perhaps it symbolizes that death is beautiful.
Its a sign of prosperity and death its a metaphor for life and death at least that's what I think...
Spring and winter, birth/fertility and death, Hades and Persephone, all that cycle of life stuff.
