1) Have you ever seen their make up?
2) Have you ever seen them in real life? I have.
3) For many of them, acting runs in the family. So once a relatively lighter skin person gets in the industry, their descendants with similar complexion keep going in the same field.

Don't know. Aren't they in jail right now for killing someone's deer or something.
Light skin has been favored over dark skin for a long time, sadly. I believe it started with the idea that pale people were upper class and didn't have to go out and work while others grew tan from having to work outside all day. Beauty standards have always been unkind to darker skin and it's terrible.
Just like how Hollywood actors and actresses are tailored to western beauty standards, Bollywood actors and actresses are tailored to eastern beauty standards, which happen to be light skin and brown hair.
Skin lightening creams are advertised more heavily there than anywhere else as I recall.

I don't see it unfair. Any nation wants to have what they don't so Asians who are generally darker bias a light skin amd white people vice versa.
Being white is kind of as trendy as being tan in east and south asia. I'm from middle east tho and since our people are kinda lighter than people of east and south asia they get tan and bias a chocolate skin lolBecause pale skin means a life in the shade away from the sun, so wealth and success. Dark skin means a life of toil in the dirt of the fields. It's all about aspiration. And the dark truth is the white is aspirational.
It's called colorism.
