What skin color are usually people from India?

Many people think all Indians have dark brown skin, but India is vast and its population is incredibly diverse. So, you will also find many people with olive skin as well as many with fair or pale skin. If you go to Northern India, you'll see many people there especially locals, have a lighter complexion, while many people in South India more often have a darker brown complexion.

Some Bollywood actors who are quite known in the West also have a light brown complexion but's also very common in other Southeast Asian countries, across Latin America, and throughout the Middle East but I guess many people only/mostly saw Blacks or Indians with your kind of complexion that's why they assume.

Then I don't know what makes people think you're black. But does it matter? If it annoys you, just correct them when they assume you're one.

There is no single 'Indian colour' or 'Black colour' that everyone should automatically know. Human skin colour is a spectrum. People guess incorrectly all the time because they rely on narrow stereotypes.

My own paternal grandmother was frequently mistaken for being European, and people guess my background incorrectly because my features don't fit the rigid stereotype. This doesn't bother me because I feel maybe they simply haven't had enough exposure and their understanding of race is too simple.

Indians are a part of Indo-European branch of Caucasians.

Most Latinas are brown, but usually a few shades lighter than Indians. I'm Hispanic too, I sometimes get mistaken for other ethnicities like Mediterranean or Arab as I have olive skin. I've been mistaken for Indian a few times as well though. Some Latinos do look similar Indians by skin tone and features and some Indians look similar to Latinos. Does it bother you to get mistaken for Indian?

No problem if you're dark. Some people actually wish to have more melanated skin. But who knows, maybe they are mistaking you for Indian based on features rather than skin color. Like North Indian (basically the Bollywood look). There are plenty of Latinas that look like Sonali Bendre for example.
