If we can include bands that were very active in the 80s but didn't form in the 80s, I'll say Rush and the Cars.

For a few technically-correct answers (these are metal, but hey metal is a subgenre of rock), Metallica, Stratovarius, Manowar, Dokken

But some of my favorites are Alan Parsons Project (though some of their stuff is more pop as well) and Electric Light Orchestra (though they're more 70's, but did have a couple of albums in the early 80's).
