I have not read any replies so here is mine.
Joker has been a reflection if the world and the people in it. Heath ledger's joker and I qoute:
Joker: You know what I've noticed? Nobody panics when things go "according to plan". Even if the plan is horrifying. If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan". But when I say that one little old mayor will die, well then everyone loses their minds!
This new movie flip a mirror to the viewer and does not pull punches. It shows the darkness in the world and not just on TV but how the people around you threat you.
It show also how we mistreat the mentally ill. In the comics it's hints to him having what is called super sanity. He See's black and white and the grey things we do to each other and to ourselves makes him go crazy. The bus of soldiers dying, major well to the joker it's a joke since we don't take it seriously ourselves.
I haven't seen the movie. I feel like I've already seen movies similar to the Joker. I've seen Fatal Attraction, Taxi Driver, Bad Influence, Single White Female, Unlawful Entry, and Cape Fear. The Joker seems like the type of character I'm supposed to have sympathy for, but he's a homicidal maniac who belongs in an insane asylum. Ray Liotta was definitely that way in Unlawful Entry. I prefer Jared Leto's version of the Joker in Suicide Squad. They didn't exploit the Joker's homicidal rage in that movie. It was possible for me to understand why Harley Quinn had an affection for him.
If you haven't seen it How u assumed all this?
I made the assumption because of the movie trailer. It looked like the Joker and his minions were going to kill some people. I wasn't sure if all of them were innocent.
I wasn't sure if all of the Joker's murder victims were innocent or guilty. The Joker looked like the typical serial killer to me. I guess he had to take the law into his own hands. I guess there weren't any police to enforce the laws.
Yeah sure that's the movie... Don't go to watch it🤣🤣🤣
I fell out with all the comic book movies a few years ago. The whole genera was just so boring to me. The films where all style and no substance. With The Joker though I felt like they actually tried to make a movie. It was a highly enjoyable film, I feel like even if you know nothing about Batman or Joker you would still be entertained.
I also felt like for the first time on film the character was done justice. A lot of people praise Heath Ledger for his Joker. However I felt Joaquin Phoenix really brought his cards to the table and captured the essence, the wacky quirkiness, and the genuine terror of the Joker.
I felt sympathetic for the joker, even if I was a little scared by the character in scenes. His backstory is not often talked about. In most cases it is left a mystery. I felt like this was done right though. You can really understand how the Joker became the Joker and it doesn't feel wrong. It feels very very right.
I went to see it unexpectedly yesterday. The message that the movie was trying to convey is deep and pertains a lot to real life scenarios. Phoenix did an amazing job in his acting too.
They checked our ID card before letting us in so I assumed that it'd be a disturbing movie. It didn't come off as disturbing or too violent for me tbh. My friend was traumatised when the show host was shot tho. He screamed and tried to hide behind my arm while I didn't even flinch.😂😂😂
However, personally, it made the whole batman thingy more complicated. Like my friend and I were trying to calculate the age gap between Bruce and Arthur. Then there was the scene where the Wayne couple is murdered and other little details like that... I think it's just that I've forgotten the other movies 😅...(I always forget movie stuff)
I like another girl likes it... The majority of the girls in this App are like the normal women and they think they are unique

I liked it. I liked seeing a villain portrayed in a sympathetic light. I liked seeing the plight of the downtrodden male brought to light. I liked that there was no over-the-top, fantastic shit in the plot. I liked that the Joker wasn't some sinister genius mastermind. He was just an ordinary guy like the rest of us. I'm surprised to see a film like this come out of Hollywood, especially in this day and age.
Wow amazing replied. Thanks. I am happy you liked it
@KristaGrym I thought the depiction of the corrupt ruling class was spot on too. It really touched a nerve with me. Again, I'm surprised to see a film with this stunning degree of realism coming from Hollywood. Usually we only see this with independent films.
That's why media mass was trying to drag this film down
It was too slow a burn for me, and despite his good performance, Phoenix didn't come off as the Joker to me, just a mentally ill person.
Ledgers Joker was just too amazing and anything the comes after that will invite comparison between the two.
In my mind, the Joker of this movie wasn't clever, devious, 3 steps ahead but slightly unhinged, he was just mentally sick. I also didn't really buy that he could have led to such disorder in the city simply with the minor actions he took.
Despite really wanting to love this movie, I just couldn't. There wasn't enough there to be the Joker.
(though when he shot Robery De Niro in his stupid smug face that made me pretty happy)
Good point but I disagree...
I thought it was a great movie. It made me uncomfortable at times, which says a lot about Joaquin's acting. The movie attempts to make you feel bad for him, but he is crazy. I didn't like that they made him angry and vengeful. It contradicts his character.
Thanks god a good argument, the film criticizes the lack of empathy in this society.
Movie of the decade.
Long as you take in that the joker as we know him doesn't really arrive until the last 5 minutes of the film; this in my opinion is the best portrayal as yet made, even more than Mark Hamill's. They brought that character to life, creating a joker that could actually exist in the real world.
Totally agree and your profile pic is just fucking adorable even if the kitten is a Catist
Awwww😍😍😍
Sad October is ending! What a great month its been! And Joker was a big part of that. Here are some of my favorite quotes!
"For my whole life, I didn't know if I even really existed. But I do, and people are starting to notice."
"Comedy is subjective Murray, isn't that what they say? All of you, the system that knows so much: you decide what's right or wrong the same way you decide what's funny or not."
Hurray!!! Someone on his 20's who understood and liked the movie. Very glad
I have a different take than most other people. But as a former Bronx resident, son of a single mom, and for other reasons, i really related to Joker.
I could have been Joker. I know how he feels, I know why he resents society, I understand his narcissism too.
All Joker wanted was order.
Yeah true in this case this "Joker" only wanted to be loved and to spread joyful...
Sorry to hear your story I hope you are in a better place now
That's a very good attitude
the one from the dark night is the main one i base my opinion on. because in several scenes his explantions , make since like this scene
i agree with him and i understand his reasoning from that scene
What i think of the Joker?
Well the original story of Arthur Fleck a failing stand up comic with a pregnant wife who dies by a mis-carriage then he's tricked by two mobster's into stealing from a chemical plant... where he falls into a those huge chemical containers
I think the Joker is a true agent of chaos in its true sense...
there;s a little bit of joker in all of us
the world if it had no consequences would be filled with Jokers
why is the joker the joker at all?
he's a human... just a human... but he's a human who has no fear of any more consequences no more fear of loosing anything no more fear of his own death... many say we have nothing to loose but in reality only a very few have nothing to loose
usually when we get to the stage of nothing to loose you either commit suicide or in the Joker's case you go bat shit crazy and do what ever the F you want... why? cause you get what you F-ing deserve... sincerely to the rest of the world
I totally hated it, and left before it was over, but I posted a question about it also, and the vast majority said they totally loved it.
The ratings were a 4.5 star out of 5 so I must have missed something.
I left after he graphically stabbed the guy in the neck and face with a pair of scissors.
I'm not into graphic horror shows... sorry

U didn't understand anything... A shame
I know, you are the 30th person to tell me that.
I'll have to fall back on my being blonde excuse... lol
I didn't say anything about u being blonde... but give it a chance. If you watch the full movie and then u don't like it I would respect your opinion
I'm not the only one around...
That's OK, I've had my opinion disrespected before, even though it was asked for, which is sad in that case :(
I usually respect someones opinion, if it is sincere, even if it does not agree with mine.
Sorry to hear that
@DWD1994 Yes, you got it, I was more expecting an action hero villain type movie and when it turned into a horror film it freaked me out is all I think.
Great movie, pretty disturbing. Incredibly well done though. You can really see Joaquin Phoenix’s transition from laughing and showing physical pain, to laughing and having it seem truly genuine. This movie was incredibly well done even though it was kind of disturbing.
Guessing you loved it? The most realistic portrayal of the joker I've seen yet, by far favourite joker yet. I also appreciate that the actor didn't go method with, which is an acting style I loathe as an actor.
Well... if losing 30lbs , go to mental vulnerability whilst filming and needed therapy to move on after finishing to film the movie is not methodical... I don't know what it is 🤣
What are u studying specifically?
Wow interesting a so called friend is studying that as well
Just watched it tonight. Certainly a very slow burning movie. I think I would have liked it more if they balanced it a bit better. Too much time was spent on him becoming Joker and so little time being Joker.
Not a lot. Like just 10 or 15 more mins of him being Joker would have good, where some of the long stare scenes could have been shortened.
I mean I liked it. I didn't hate it. But I don't see myself watching it again any time soon.
Good point but I disagree
didn't makd me want to shoot up a cinema at all like the media suggested

It was a bad movie. Rather than the Joker being a mass murdering psychopathic anarchist, they turned him into a sad lovesick puppy. He was not believable in any way. Joaquin Phoenix had almost infinite potential to pull it off and he blew it.
The pacing was too slow, the music was too flat and sluggish, and the character development wasn't there. Honestly, the movie lost me when he they played Rock and Roll Part 2 as he was getting into the elevator.
They also overplayed the mental health aspect way too much. The Joker is clearly not right in the head, no matter which incarnation it is. But this time around, it was too heavy handed.
Loads of potential, but poorly executed.
Good point I respect that but u didn't get neither the messages from the movie
And this is the 10th person I think he/she didn't understand it
@ChefSwol I want your opinion
My opinion is it’s just a movie. And I doubt it’s that good tbh. Especially in today’s Hollywood where everything that comes out has something being shoved down your throat. I watch movies to be entertained. Not to be brainwashed into believing some bullshit.
Sounds like this movie has “mental awareness” bullshit. Like fuck off with that.
So in your opinion to raise awareness about mental health is brainwashed you? To have empathy for persons in your opinion is to brainwashed you? Trying to put yourself in other's feet is to brainwashed you? To criticised the rich people who fuck non rich ones is to brainwashed u... Ok, fair enough
I am not a buddy , cinema condemns and portrays unfair things that happen in real life. If you don't consider cinema an art we ate not at the same level. Sorry. And this is not only a film
What message was I supposed to get out of it? And even if there was, am I not free to disagree with it?
Think whatever u want I am tired of explaining this movie
It's the best u can do?
Ohh poor you delicate rose
For a person who insults me of course I won't I am a good persons but I am not stupid
That is enough from the both of you.
Now, @KristaGrym, answer my question. What "message" am I supposed to get from the movie and am I not allowed to critique, disagree with, or otherwise interpret it differently if in fact there even is a "message"? And if not, why?
@BCRanger10 🤐🤐🤐🤐
Didn't they just show the entire movie in the trailer?
Joaquin Phoenix really did a flawless job portraying the character. I can clearly see the Scorsese influence.
My only problem with it was the predictability. But nice effort by DC to get this made. But I hope they don't deliberately push forward formulaic movies based on characters. And let such movies be purely about the director's vision, which I guess why this film works.
Was really good. I think a good movie should be able to entice your emotions and this movie made me really uncomfortable in certain scenes. This goes in my top 10 forsure.
I am glad u like it😄😄🤔
I love the movie, had me hooked for every second. It's an unusual representation of Joker and one that does not need Batman to be interesting. In this movie he is more human than ever and somewhat relatable even. As for the controversy, I don't believe that people will abuse guns and what else is going around, after all it's a movie and a great one at that.
Totally agree
Loved it! Joaquin Phoenix's performance was fantatstic! I loved the sad aesthetics of the whole movie and that you kinda sympathize with Arthur and condemn him at the same time.
Great Movie!
Thanks god someone who understood the movie. Thanks I totally agree
I believe some of it's controversy has started a bit of trouble with crime in America. Other than that, I watched the movie and thought it was okay. I didn't think it was great but okay enough where you see it once and never watch again.
I never needed an origin story. Killing Joke's was fine. This version is just another guy who paints his face and does crazy things.
I like this one below better. I boosted the exposure since they liked to shoot with HDR
Also Bruce Timm and Paul Dini should be running the DC film division at AT&T not that other guy.
Amazing. Cinematography was amazing. The ambiguitiy made the movie so much fun. Joaquin never disappoints. The music as well. 5/5.
Completely agree... The lights, the specific song for the specific scenes in a perfect timing. Joaquín is a genius... I knew when I saw him in "Gladiator" in 2001
Nope I have to I know
Wow... Noted and Thomas Anderson is... though filmmaker
I know... wow u know a lot of cinema to have only 21... that's amazing
I don't know Tom Segura sorry but I am reading he is a comedian... So I won't like him for sure 🤣
No, sorry.
Didn't see it, don't intend to either. I can't fucking stand Joe Quin Phoenix.
Joaquín
I loved it. It gave us a side of the Joker we don't typically get, and it did well portraying mental illness. It also makes you think about how you treat people.
Stupid and shouldn't have even been made. The reason the Joker is cool is precisely because he DOESN'T have a backstory-- you don't need to know why he's so evil or crazy... that's part of his allure and what makes him mysterious and special as a villain.
The criticism to society that is lack of empathy and the criticism to power and rich class you are forgetting it :)
Another one who didn't understand the movie 😖😖😖
... No, I understood it just fine. It simply wasn't good. Understanding it wasn't difficult.
Then it is worse u don't have empathy ;)
... Again, it's not about empathy. I don't think you read my comment. The point is that The Joker is not supposed to have a backstory. In the comics, he originally did not have one. They should have kept it at that. I don't know why you're bringing "empathy" up at all. That isn't the point.
The movie is about having empathy man. U didn't understand anything. U are bringing the backstory and the comics... So you are proving u didn't understand none of the multiples messages the movie has
Okay... The Joker is a comic book character. You know that right? As such, he is based on source material-- the comics themselves. If the movie has literally nothing to do with the comics, then that's lame. I don't know what the problem is here. If they wanted to make a movie about what you're saying-- empathy and be nice to people and mental illness-- then why did they use The Joker? They could have just used anyone. They could have used some random dude. But they knew that then not as many people would see it, so they used the Joker in a lame ploy to get people to go see the movie.
He only embraces the Joker self by the end of the movie to redeem himself after a life of hate and being a piece of shit for the rest of humans.
I know... that doesn't matter.
Sigh. Never mind. If you liked the movie, so be it.
"That doesn't matter"The guys says.
"There are no further questions your Honour".
Man, what a shitty take. Has to be the worst I've seen yet.
@Jenny4455 Yep.
One of the best movies i have seen in a long time 😁
I am glad u liked it
So far the movie of the year. We still have to see the Irishman.
Ohh yeah yeah I agree🧐
But the production was made by Netflix... Red flags everywhere
The movie left a LOT to be desired. The plot and narrator sucked. I liked the character and I can't blame him for what he did. Gotham has always been a bad place like that...
Another onw who comparws the novie with that shitty superheroes movies🤦🏻♀️
Actually I'm comparing it to the comics I've been reading for 15 years. 🤣😂. He isn't the Joker. Maybe in a different universe based on ones interpretation, and Owlman MIGHT be his nemesis which had a likelihood of about 3%
Because if Bruce is a child... And the Joker is near a middle aged man... That would mean that by the time Bruce becomes of age to take up the helm of Batman after his Shaolin training and his travels (about 22 years), The Joker would easily be about 60 or so... Here comes Batman Beyond or Terri McGinnis' Joker... And all this other nonsense. The Joker is my favorite villain aside from Eli Wallach or Mr. Freeze... This is not the maniacal genius that I love. He is simply a man that was wronged too many times, pushed over the edge and happened to want to put a smile on other people's faces.
Now rewatch the movie like an independent movie itself
I saw it twice. The issue with it is the literal narration. It has nothing to do with the other movies. If anything he COULD be The Joker that has no Batman... But what kind of Joker is that? If anything... He seemed more like a public figure. He tells the story and we can't even know what exactly is true because it is Arthur narrating and telling what happened. But what actually happened? But comparatively to other independent movies, it wasn't as good as it could have been at all. No matter how I look at it. This is solely my perspective, and I'm not sure why you believe we should share the same perspective... 🤷🤔.
It's just a medium of entertainment. Just wasn't good to me.
Because they took the idea of Joker not the universe to send a message... Gezz
You still act as though I'm supposed to like it.
Do whatever u want
If you go into it wanting to see your standard comic book movie with lots of action, then yeah you might be disappointed. Its meant to be more of a character study.
The movie itself shows how Arthur Fleck became the joker. It isn't really until the end of the movie, that we see Arthur die (metaphorically speaking) and get replaced with the joker.
Because its a character study, most of the movie is going to consist of the Joker before he actually becomes the Joker. I personally liked it and I think it was really well done but I can understand why some people may have been disappointed in the movie.
thanks mate @DWD1994
That wasn't why I disliked it. The plot alone simply wasn't good.
Just how they go about things. It seems as though literally anyone could have been in his shoes. Literally. The nonsense with his mother. His mother being batshit crazy, and abusing him. How Arthur is telling the story in hindsight, the whole clown nonsense in the city. I just believe the movie as a whole could have been executed better. I do get the fact that the mother thing adds to the plot, but the garbage with the Waynes was completely unnecessary and doesn't actually further the plot that well in my opinion. They could have added any other ordinary schmuck with money and being assholes like they did in the subway (I actually enjoyed that scene a lot).
The violence? What kind of Joker movie would it be without violence? Lmfao. You can't really have any iteration of The Joker without violence...
Why can't they just let him be the "Joker" as opposed to always trying to find the method of his madness. The Joker is everyone's darker side made manifest and that's all he should be. Getting really sick of origin stories...
I agree with the fact he is supposed to have no real origin but I disagree on why, I don't think he is supposed to be anything or represent anything other than evil, he is the supervillain version of Michael Myers in clown form
@Waffles731 technically all villains represent humanity's darker side.
OK, Shows someone devolving over time, deff not what the Intersectional/Identitarian left thought it was and left the cops detailed to cover the screenings wondering what the fuss was all about.
Interesting...
I loved the movie, especially the end. I feel terrible as to how he was born... but it just shows why we need support for people and their mental health!
Haven't watched it yet, but sadly I've been hearing a lot of bad reviews and how it doesn't match the trailer (which is fine)
Watch it
I think he hot and sexy I also might sleep with a guy dressed like him
From the whole. movie u got that...
Yes I have a thing for the joker
Wow baaaad goooorl over here
It didn’t have enough action. I was expecting it to be like a Batman film with action.
Incredibly well done and acted, the tone is all over the place but it works. 9/10
It's a DC movie... with other words ! Not worth to spend money on, will wait till it's free to download and god bless torrents
Back off some make up, dude. But really, The Joker, is crazy Psychopath character. Will be funny then kill you.
Nahhh
The movie was great, but it turned me into a hateful alt-right misogynistic incel 🙁... 3 out of 4 stars
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I haven't seen the Joker yet, but I plan to. I have read mixed reviews on the Joker, but I know that I will Like it!
I am actually wondering why no one here has done a review.
I did in filmaffinity but in Spanish
For a movie, it was fun and entertaining.
As a comic fan, it was trash.
As a joker fan, it was trash.
Heath was the best joker so far
Leto is next
Nicholson last.
This guy is not The Joker.
Another one who didn't understand the movie
Leto was a terrible joker lol
They cut 20 minutes of his Joker... They don't give him a chance to show more sides of his Joker... unfair
@Prime_Sol If you compare this movie with superheroes movies u don't know anything about cinema ;)
Funny movie? See? U didn't understand a shit man
I know but still U didn't understand, cultivate more your mind and less your body mate
It was so crazy.. I loved the perspectives of hr normal people who doesn’t have a power turning into zombies and mobs. He killed walstreet guys and people get together what a story
Great movie. I like the dark elements in the movie and how much of it seems to have been inspired by other iconic and dark movies like Clockwork Orange.
I enjoyed it. I didn't think it was the masterpiece others are saying not did I see it as right wing/white supremacist propaganda.
I just thought it was an entertaining movie.
Not yet. I'm waiting for my imaginary girlfriend to come home from work. I'm going to surprise her by waiting in her flat with the tickets and some flowers. Hope she smiles.
I loved it, it's a great movie
Finally I know a girl here who liked it I am very glad to hear
Masterpiece 11/10, wi be talked about in the years to come.
I'm seeing it tomorrow because at the time that we are going for a movie there was basically nothing else
I liked it. It was sort of derivative of Taxi Driver, but ok nonetheless.
Yeah Scorsese was one of the producers
The movie or the guy?
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Simpons reference there maybe?
I didn’t think you would get it! Nice
Dr Zaius episode... please I've grown up with the simpons I know so much about then I got even the references in English (I am Spanish)
Nice 😎
I was disappointed to learn that he doesn't actually tell jokes
He's good but he ain't got nothing on Ceasar Romero the original Joker
I didn't watch César Romero's Joker so I can't argument. I will
The old Batman series from the 60s and 70s Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin
I know I need to watch them 😊
But u are comparing this movie to the comics series and that's a mistake
Not the comics.. in general...
Cesar Romero
Jack Nicholson
Heath Ledger
Joaquin Phoenix
Jered Letto
That's how I rank them
I respect your opinion but I disagree
For what it's worth I still think he was awesome as the joker in the new one
Yeah🤔
Haven't seen the movie, but he's one of my favorite villains.
It was just another good movie. Good but not too special. Made interesting by the fact that the whole media was rooting for mass shootings during it for some reason.
Not a movie i care to see
Ok...
Did u see The Weeknds costume?
That's Nicholson's
I know and he pulled it off
ok😐😐😐😐
I enjoyed this movie it was really great 👍
Glad to hear this
Me too 😜
Greatest movie I've seen yet
Good I am glad
Meh, I felt like the movie was far to long but I loved the ending.
some people say it is an incel movie
but I have not seen it yet
I'm going to see it tonight at 11 p. m.
The perfect way to start off the new dceu
No thanks
This should be (Now that it has became a hit they will do a shitty sequel) an independent film itself from DC... they only "sampled"the character of Joker to send multiple messages about the actual society and persons
If you didn't get the criticism of society, high and powerful class, how society treats persons with mental illness, how society treats persons who are considered misfits... and more and more... Yeah, You didn't understand anything
Erm there is a political movement portrayed on the film... We are talking about the same movie?
Well that's shows you are an narcissistic person who thinks she is better than everyone :) And again it what the movie shows... cinema send messages about the society we live in even if the universe created in the film is not real...
it's what the movie*
sends *
Yeah sure 👍🏻
He's my favorite Disney character
