If he isn't, I obviously completely disagree with him. Not beating your children has nothing to do with "being weak" as some idiots claim. It is a scientific fact that hitting children has absolutely zero positive effect on the children. It can, however, have serious negative effects. Now, some people might argue "oh, but I'm just gonna do it a bit, not like really strong". The part these people forget is that violence doesn't just have physical consequences, it also has emotional ones. Getting hit makes you feel humiliated and disrespected, which is a terrible people. It also breaks the wall of trust you have towards your parents. If the two individuals you trust most in this universe suddenly turn against you, how are you supposed to feel? This can't possibly be healthy for a child.

Other reasons why beating is a terrible idea include:
1. It teaches children that might makes right. In other words, if you have the power act despotic, it's morally okay to do so.

2. Although everyone loves to say "I will only do a bit", evidence shows the opposite. There are regular cases where parents completely freak out DURING the beating. It might start as a light "ass-whooping" but then all the stress from work, the frustration with your wife/husband and a thousand other things rise up inside of you and the beating turns into a feast of violence. There have been countless parents convicted of murder because they shook their babies so hard the baby died. Why? It was crying a little too much.

3. Empirical evidence shows that children who get beaten abused are at a higher risk of becoming abusers themselves when they are adults.

4. Hitting children might stop their bad behavior but it doesn't teach them anything. It doesn't help them to understand WHY their behavior was wrong. Ethically speaking, this is truly tragic. If you can't rationally explain your ethical and moral views, then what are they worth? "I think murder is wrong" Why? "I don't know, I just think it's wrong". Well, if you don't have any arguments, we might as well legalize it.

5. If you want your children to act like mature adults, you have to treat them like that. You can't humiliate someone and then expect him/her to kiss your ass like the king/queen you secretly want to be.

One thing is clear:
If I were 16 and I got beaten by my dad like this girl, and my mom was a coward cunt standing next to him and watching instead of protecting me, there is one thing I would do:
I would take the beaten and wait until night comes. Then, I would sneak out of bed, go to wherever my dad stores his guns (pretty sure that guy has some), load them, and commit suicide right outside of my parents' bedroom.

And if that girl was somehow strong enough not to do that, I am almost certain she now HATES her parents' guts. So... congrats to that couple. They spent 20 years raising a human being and that human being now absolutely despises them. Must feel like a great's life achievement.

Why do you think Hispanic kids usually are behaved. The ones from Mexico. Now, there's a big difference between spanking and beating. Spanking involves being spanked with the open hand or with a belt. Beating is why we have so many violent people that can't control the anger they have because they literally got beat like if they were adults when they were children. Spanking is to correct the child because you explain to them what they did wrong and that's why they are getting spanked. Beating them for their wrong doings and telling them that is why they are getting beat is psychological damage.

Kids can call the cops on parents now for spankings and beatings. Some actually went to jail over that. One video I seen a cop spanked his daughter in the school office. The office camera caught it and he lost his job over hitting and spanking his daughter.

Tell you what. You want to beat your kid? Beat me first. Don't pick on the weak, pick on someone in your own weight class.

Here's the idea: If you can't rationally explain your kid why what he/she is doing is wrong, and you have to beat him/her for it - you failed at parenting. And it is not the kid's failure - that's a kid, they don't know any better. TAKE FUCKING RESPONSIBILTY FOR YOUR KIDS! Don't use them to cure your inferiority complex or justify your archaic world views.

When I was a kid teachers used to beat us all the time, if I played a bum note on my recorder the music teacher would beat me over the head with hi s recorder, I can't be a teacher because I'm thick, but, even if I was intelligent enough to go to university and become a teacher I wouldn't be slowed to hit the kids in my class, it's illegal for anyone except parents, grandpatents, aunts, uncles and big brothers or sisters to beat children now.

To some extent. Beating a kid is never right, spanking a kid may help, if you explained the reason. In my opinion it only works for kids, from 4 to 9 years. From 10 on other tactics should be used. For those who say a kid doesn't need not even a spank, I only have one answer, no all kids are the same. Some understands with words, others need to be stopped with a good spank. Is way to tell them they went too far.
