So, I never beat around the bush when it comes to talking about myself. It seems like things just go a lot smoother in dating (and in life in general) when you're just upfront about things when you're getting to know each other.
That being said, I'm a huge metalhead, my favorite band is Iron Maiden (not death metal, but still). When a woman asks me about my taste in music, I usually just say "Oh, I listen to Death Metal and shit, mostly" and they usually laugh like I'm making a joke, then I tell them some of my favorite bands (Slayer, Black Dahlia Murder, Lamb of God, 3 Inches of Blood, etc) and then they get this look on their face like I told them I murdered someone 😂
But the thing is that I don't exclusively listen to The Metal. I'm actually a HUGE Elton John fan and I owe Chris Cornell my life (his music has literally kept me alive in some of the hardest times in my life, so yeah his death hit me really hard). I also love Classical music (it's just what they call Metal before the time of electricity). But, The Metal is just what I love the most, it drives me, gives me the push that I need to shake off all the bullshit life throws at me. And that, to me, is worth losing out on a couple of dates.

Why are women put off by the fact I love Death Metal?
The sorts of women who are so easily put off by the fact we like metal aren't for us man! There are plenty of women who are a part of the scene and they are way more fun than some Ed sheeran fan and they dress better! Not saying only socialise with people who share something as trivial as taste in music, but anyone who judges you and doesn't get... We're better off without em!

No, no, I'm not upset by it, I'm just kind of curious as to why it matters so much 😆 Yeah, he died like three weeks after I went through a really hard and messy breakup, so it almost ended me. The only thing I can do to thank him for what he's done is to pay it forward by staying alive and being myself like he said.
Well the reason it matters to those women is because they're fucking boring! I bet they listen to Coldplay or reggaeton! I normaly only socialise at shows or rock and metal pubs and bars so I don't often come into contact with the bland normies. Do you get to meet many like minded people in your area?
Well, most of my circle of friends are metalheads, we all even went to see Maiden in August on my dime. There aren't any metal bars around here, at least I don't think there are. There is this student that goes to school in the building I work that usually has on a metal shirt, so I throw him the horns when I see him. 🤘
where are you looking? if you want a metalhead chick you need to hang out where they do. yes most girls do give you this horrified look like your about to sacrifice their cat... if you have to: say you like a bit of all sorts. if they want more detail and she gives you "that look" she ain't for you.
Well, I live in a university town and a vast majority of these chicks are your typical "Basic White Bitch". They all think The Office is a personality trait and they live on a diet of Starbucks and Xanax. I mean I'm sure there are metalhead girls around, but they're few and far between 😆 The thing is that most of the girls that I actually have been able to keep talking to are international students, but I'm kind of afraid of getting attached to them 😅

When it comes to music, I never understood people who put others down for their music tastes. I have friends that like KPop. It’s not for everyone but they got hate just for liking it. I have other friends that also like death metal and they get labeled as emo or goth. I personally like almost any genre of music so maybe I’m just more open minded when it comes to music.

Aw you're so sweet 😅 I mean, I have a battle vest with a lot of patches and a t-shirt soaked in fake blood that I wore to a Gwar show in 2018 that I call my concert attire. I wear shirts of my favorite bands sometimes, but most of the time I dress "normal". I actually take the way I dress and how I present myself to the world pretty seriously as of a few months ago because taking pride in my appearance has done wonders for my self esteem. Looking at me and talking to me on an everyday basis, you probably wouldn't expect me to be in love with metal. It's caught some people off guard after I had known them for a while (not to the point that they ghost me though). Thanks for your input, you're a sweetheart 🤘😘

Also, death metal is like the action / war film of music. Ladies naturally dislike these. Most ladies gravitate towards nurturing and consoling behaviour... so death metal is almost a foreign genre to us... and even the names of some of the bands must get interesting reactions! :-)

Well, death metal is inherently an abrasive genre of music right? I would blame a person if that type of music rubs them the wrong way. But also, the type of music someone enjoys doesn't (or shouldn't) reflect their entire character. I guess these girls you're talking about don't see that.
Some of could be a bit dark. A friend's daughter when she was younger wanted to go to Pierce the Veil but her mom didn't want her to go the venue where it was being held. I told her I'd be her chaperone until I listened to some videos of theirs. It was too dark for me. I'm sure it fit with what she was going through at the time. I am not sure what genre they fall under.

coz its shit lol... seriously though im sure there are plenty of women that also love death metal but ofcourse they are fewer and further between than taylor shit fans so maybe just dont make a big thing of your musical preferences when you meet someone or at least make them aware you respect the difference because after all musical tastes are merely subjective
I know some girls that love death metal when it comes to the girls you're talking about it's probably just not their thing and they're really girly because it's dark and grungy and not something they would like everyone has different preferences but I want to remind you there are plenty of women out there that do enjoy death metal

I know that metal in general is frowned upon in society but if she can't deal with it, it's her problem. Just keep looking for someone who shares the same interests as you. part of it, is because all it takes is a girl to date a metal head once, and she associates anyone she meets who listens to metal with that type/failed relationship, like I'm not going down that road again.
and I'd say probably 80% of metal heads are dudes so finding a metal head chick is a needle in a haystack, a rocker chick is more likely
Someone in my sophomore U. S. History class listened to Death Metal and used to do air guitar and screams in the classroom/hallways. So whenever someone tells me they like Death Metal or Metal in general I just associate it with that

It's edgy and even Death Metal is too much for people just into Heavy Metal/Metalcore or just new to metal as a whole. They also could fear that you'll play it often even when she doesn't want to hear it.
Well I don't listen to it to be edgy and I only really listen to it with my headphones on because I know that some people don't like it and are annoyed by it (just like every other genre of music, but that's beside the point). The guys that walk around blaring it on their phones or on their car stereos, those are the ones trying to be edgy 😂

They don't. They just want you to think that. If you were attractive to them they would say how edgy and cool you are for listening to metal and then try to copy-city you in order to draw your attention. You could be the biggest dumbass in the world. If she finds you attractive she doesn't have a problem and can fuck you on the first date.

Some people are put off by the fact that I listen to dark wave for some reason. I used to be into Death and Doom metal a couple of years ago. Also, I know other women who are into metal as well
I'm honestly not put off by someone's taste in music. I'll tell them I'm not a fan, or I'll joke around (like "I bet this bands lead singer would beat this bands lead singer at thumb wrestling"), but I won't ghost them. Most of the time two people with different taste in music can find at least a few artists they both like.
Most people don’t want to invest time in someone they’re put off about right from the beginning. Those women probably have wrong preconceptions about death metal and those who like it. You shouldn’t take any of this to heart because they’re probably not a good match for you anyway.
