Heavy Metal: Is it a turn-off for most girls?

Okay, so I'm a Thrash Metal bassist, and I've been wondering, what do you of the opposite gender think about heavy metal?
I'm not talking about the really screwed up, disgusting metal like Black Dahlia Murder, more of the classic metal, like Metallica (before they sold out in the 90s), Anthrax, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Pantera, Megadeth, etc.
I've tried to introduce several girls to metal, and all of them have been completely opposed to it.
I do know a few metalhead girls though, but they're usually the typical dyed-hair, hot-topic obsessed girls.

Metal in any form is bigger than ever. And more chicks than ever are into it. Just look at all the chicks on youtube doing playthroughs of shit. And some of them have expensive fucking kit. Some of them are endorsed.

But still, the majority of chicks want dance-y, happy music - with the emos second in line. As well, the sound of distorted guitar is noisy and goes against female biology sound-wise.

Like 90% of the time I meet a new woman, they say they "like all music," and then when I ask what metal bands they like, their response is like "ew no I hate metal." Seems like metalhead women are just less common, at least around me. I've been in and out of bands as a singer (multiple genres of music), but most women never even wanna hear ANY of it once they find out that I'm a metalhead haha

I like a few songs by some of the groups you mentioned, and I like Tool, but that's about it.

It's not a turn-off for me if a guy likes metal, as long as he doesn't listen to black metal, Slayer, the Mentors, or artists/groups similar to them.

Slayer's not really black metal (almost every member of the band is Catholic), but I don't really like them either.

Tool is gay. That's grunge-spin-off bullshit. Slayer... well... I had Seasons of the Abyss on earlier in my car - hellah loud. Slayer fucking kills. The lyrics are about shit - not at all about what he thinks. Duh.

No I don't think I've ever met a guy who didn't listen to metal. It's not a turn off its just not my thing. I can listen to it if he's playing it but I'm not about to put it on my iPod or anything lol

nah I seem to have most attraction toward metalheads because I am one! my guy is one as well. luv thrash metal by the way

most girls, yes. but there are some who are attracted to metalheads. that being said, its not just music taste, but also exterior appearance (think young Dave Mustaine, Peter Steele, Oskar Fahlen etc). If you are a stick with no facial hear and listen to Dream Theatre, then sorry mate but you aren't gonna get the girls. However, if you are muscular, bearded (with long hair) and masculine then girls can look past the music taste. we live in a superficial age, so music taste won't be as much as a turn off as appearance.

Hmmmmm…I m a metalhead myself though I don't really look like a metalhead.
I like guys with long hair and if they're metalhead I d be super happy
Most of my friends r art freaks and some r metalhead, they're dating normal guys and girls, most of them can tolerate Taylor swift and Justin bieber
It depends on how they see things, u don't wanna date someone who judge others by their appearance or judgmental about something they don't ever listen to.

I'm cool with it, as long as the guy is open to the bands I like as well. I like metalcore more than classic metal, but I don't mind it.

Depends on the tasteof music girls listen too. Not all girls like the loud sound of the music, it might hurt their ear drums.

Honestly dude I have the same problem but with guys, I think it depends most girls I know cringe at my music even know it's not even heavy.

It's heavy. It's not 'heavy' according to the White Zombie school of obnoxious bass that's the norm, and that all the kids think is heavy.
