Elliot Page, Ellen Page's new name that mirrors his identity as transgender, is a nice looking person and a good actor.
Page came out as gay many years ago. That was brave then.
I have no idea why Page has changed name and gender identification.
I believe it is this new "umbrella" term that covers all kinds of non traditional gender/sexuality identifications.
My definition of what transgender means is a person who is repulsed by their biological body and wishes to have the body and live the life of the opposite sex to what they were born as.
Page doesn't seem to be repulsed by her original body, nor is she taking male sex hormones or having psychological counseling to deal with her body dysmorphia.
Comedian Izzy Izzard has come out as transgender also. Yet Izzard regularly takes acting roles as a man, also has not taken feminizing sex hormones and does not appear to live "as a woman."
That, to me, is what transgender means. Not the fluidity to dress, act and have sex with whomever you wish to if it's nontraditional.
If that's the case, I'M TRANSGENDER. I never wear dresses, unless it's a funeral or a graduation of some kind. I love tools and working on cars and laying sod and repairing my house: painting, weatherboards, plumbing, etc.
I love to curse like a sailor. Because it's fun and naughty. I'm not politically correct. I never want to be.
However, I want to be kind and generous to all people and have them live how they want to live. Some people think these superficial changes make them more fully themselves.

There are others who feel the need to do this. I'll respect them, even though I feel this is frivolous.

I always thought when Elliot was Ellen, he looked kind of boyish anyway. All those shots with the vamped up hair, mid-drift-baring clothing, were all sort of weird to see because I never found *her* (at the time) ultra feminine. They were obviously publicity photo shoots and of course the makeup and wardrobe team went and did their thing - just like they always do with other female celebrities.

So it didn't exactly surprise me. In fact, it sort of suits him better. It might take some getting used to to seeing the female replaced since that's how I would have identified *Ellen*, but he's not stupid, so we'll see what he does next.

Walked like "a man." What does that even mean? Didn't take tiny steps in high heeled shoes? Come on. People walk differently ACCORDING to how they're dressed. Page has been in fancy dresses. She didn't wear boots then. As a "he" Page is choosing to not wear dresses or look like a traditional "female." You don't become a MAN because you're making that choice.
This is what I'm balking at. I've got some heels in my closet. I trot them out for funerals and graduationis, as I've said, along with my few dresses.
Daily I wear tennis and high topped boots to do my shoveling, sod laying garden and ladder climbing gutter cleaning work.
Am I a MAN because I dress a certain way and I do some tasks that MIGHT be considered traditionally "men's work," because in the OLD CREAKY DAYS, men mostly did these jobs?
ABSURD. I have not grown a penis because I've laid sod and used a pickax in my front yard, nor because of donning gloves and cleaning the leaves et al out of my gutters, or using a ladder to climb up to DO those chores.
I do them because I like to keep my house in good repair and it costs me nothing to do them whereas it would cost me a fortune to hire someone to do it. I've painted the exterior and interior of my house.
My dad taught me how to do these things as well as how to tune an engine and change and check oil and fluid levels and tires and to change a tire.

Those are common skills EVERYBODY needs to take care of their own home. Unless you're terribly old and can't DO them anymore, you need to, to save money and it gives you a wonderful feeling of accomplishment and self care.
I will be cleaning my gutters today because the high temperture is supposed to be 73, and the weather clear. It'll be raining by Tueday and I want those gutters clean to keep the water flowing into my rain barrels.
If I'm lucky, I'll have my power washer repaired and running for the next bout of warmer weather, to clean up the drive and sidewalks. They're grungy. I LOVE POWER WASHING and the house is looking dinghy too.
