RPG with any stealth in it. So so easy to either break any game, or see how broken it is early on with stealth mechanics. Like in Valheim, get stealth high enough, toss on the troll armor improved a few times, and secondary attack everything with a crap dagger for instant kills up until the plains biome... mostly because there's not much to hide behind there to break LoS. In some games, notably all bethesda titles, get any gear that helps with stealth, walk right up to people and pickpocket grenades and/or poisons into them.
I love it, so much joy to bill cosby an entire enemy base. Who want's some pudding? Probably the most fun thing to do in Morrowwind, make ridiculously long potions of paralysis and chameleon, just waltz right in, poison everyone, and punch them to death while they watch on unable to do anything, because even using a rusty iron dagger would cost money through the repair tools.
I like an open world RPG, where I can customize my character and explore different skill trees. Witcher 3 Wild Hunt was the best game I played in a long time, and a long time since.
I don't play anymore, and generally I feel video games are just a time suck that don't yield long term benefits. But they are FUN!
My ideal game would be VR, an open world where you could just explore and go anywhere, be anything, do anything. Basically be a a god. Witcher 3 was like that, you had all these different skills and could just go almost anywhere and do almost anything. It was cool how they set it up that if you weren't ready level wise you would just get killed and have to restart so you always were working toward some new expansion of the map.
Easier to say which ones out of all of those I don't play which is sub sim, train sim, and musical. I don't really have a favorite. I'm usually addicted to one game for a duration of time and then switch it up to a new game that could be in a totally different genre.. I'll play the other ones here and there.
@crazyish How many hours a day or hours per week do you play video games? I'm trying to cut back. I can get addicted to playing chess. One time I played 8 hours of chess!

They will help you cut back.. unless they are like my daughter who is a gamer.. obsessed with Fortnite.. tbh she's actually better then most boys older than her, they get mad that she's a girl😂 I'm so proud! These days probably about 10-15 hrs a week. But yes I have spent too many straight hours more than 8 sometimes in a row on Everquest, wow, skyrim and cod.. those were probably the worst ones..
@crazyish When you play video games do you believe you are wasting your life away? I've got a lot of free time on my hands so all of my chores, errands, etc. are done when I play. However, when I do play too much I often think I could be doing a constructive hobby instead. I don't know.
That's because society makes you feel guilty about it. The same could be said about binge watching tv series or movies. Most games are online and social. It's just your choice of a way to get out of your own reality, like with watching TV, reading, and even going out. It's an escape. We all need those. People just find it easier to judge others when they don't understand their own ways of escape. Meh. It's no biggie.
RPG. Skyrim is my favorite video game of all time. The whimsy, the adventure, the lore, the epic music... every peice of the game was so incredibly well orchestrated. I could get into specifics and go on for ages about the upsides of this game, but I will just leave you with this: as a general rule, I enjoy multi-player games more than singleplayer games; Skyrim was so good, that to this day (11 years later) it remains my favorite game by far, despite the fact that it is single player. I have spent thousands of hours playing it. It is an artistic masterpiece, and is the reason why RPGs are my favorite video game genre.
Platformers like Mario, Sonic, or Mega Man are my favorite genre overall, but my favorite game series of all time is Pokèmon and second and third favorite is Saints Row and Grand Theft Auto. So I like platformers the most as a genre and can play most of them and enjoy them, but I don't think any of them are in my top five favorite games list.
@LazyProphet they're your typical sidescrollers where you go from one end of a stage to another.. or if its 3d then usually you collect things to achieve a goal before moving onto another stage. there's typically a lot of jumping and precise movement involved hence the name "platformer"

Sports for me. I’m not as much of a gamer as much as I am an athlete/sports fan just trying to simulate athletic competition when the real thing isn’t available, haha.
I do enjoy SimCity though, and to a lesser degree, The Sims, but that’s more about designing an ideal house, it’s SimArchitect for me😝
Fighting games, especially if they have custom character creation and weapons.
Character action games come in second, platformers third, shooters in fourth, then battle kart racers, I also like scary games but im not sure where on the list it would go since it could be a number of genre types, but basically alien isolation was good.
Although i like all games that are difficult and play each game on the hardest setting. Although i hate games where it's just you take more damage while dealing less, the lazy difficulty coding.
I like the "get good or get dead" in games. Like kerbal space program, alien isolation, getting over it, old delta force and ghost recon games etc.

I grew up in a house full of dudes. My earliest memory is Mortal Combat on N64. I got my ass whooped on a regular basis but it was worth it. Definitely fighting games

Ohhh, thats so sad! I don’t care how much she says she likes the video games, I’m sure she would much rather go out dancing, or if she’s over 30, then she’d rather you took her out on a beautiful date.

Can't choose just one. I'd say city sim if you count builder games as city sims i. e. minecraft, terraria etc. I would also include RPG's, strategy, open world, rogue likes in their as well.

Strategy and RPGs. Though I don't care for the MMOs. As they typically highlight how much I suck at socializing with others. I would often have too figure out how to solo 5 man dungeons in WoW; until they made the LFG system a lot more easier. Though it is still fun to solo Molten Core; after all the time I spent with my brother's guild trying to clear it way back when.

I used to like F-19 stealth fighter. It is a flight simulator that would give you missions to complete. Way back I played Moon Patrol. It was an Atari game.
