Do you realize people over 40 and even in their 30s in the 1980s and most of the 90s didn't play video games?

They considered video games to be children's toys. A hobby with no return. The equivalent would've been train set enthusiasts or something. People these days have lost sight of what it means to develop a hobby.

It is possible you could make a YouTube channel where people watch you play but you have to be a hot chick or nobody cares.

I guess I am the exception to the rule then. I have always loved games. I still have the systems going back to the Atari and Coleco all the way up to this past gen consoles. I play games with my kids that they enjoy. My son particularly loves playing Minecraft with me. We have several arcade units in our house too. Growing up I still had a ton of outside time and was active in sports as well.

Personally I love games because it brings us together in a common activity that has an easy entry point for a lot of different ages.

Yeah but you weren't 40 in the 90s. You were still just a kid and then a teenager.

My mom did try to play with us back (same with board games) then which is why I try to carry that same thing with my kids now. The atari and coleco actually were my grandfathers who gave them to us when we got a little older. My uncle used to love to just play Asteroids all the time on there.

Yeah, thats true for every new thing, once you reach a certain age its harder and unlikely to get interested in a new thing.

Samething with PCs and Internet, and probably other stuff i am too young to remmber

We were too busy playing outside and getting exercise, the only good video games were in the arcade rooms which I played in the mall or local convenience store sometimes

Pretty much, when I wanted to play video games I needed a bag of quarters and a arcade.

Yup. And they made out just fine. So why tf do people waste so much time on them now?
