Do you think that the guitar (especially the electric one) is an overrated instrument?

Everybody wants to get one. And what do they do? Strum a few easy chords and shred/mimic those heavy metal soloists. Unless you're worthy of experimenting and inventing your own style like Jimi Hendrix, or playing country/jazz/slide (underrated stuff I may add)... then I suggest leaving the guitar alone.

What's wrong with bass, drums, piano, accordion, harmonica, saxophone, mandolin, banjo, trumpet, trombone, flute or fiddle? Do those instruments not get any love?

No I don't think its overrated. I do think that its easy to get okay at but its very hard to master and that is why its not overated. If you can master it you have come far and beyond most instruments (as you said, Jimi Hendrix, also most heavy metal guitarists, Yngwie Malmsteen is another one etc.).

That said the guitar is not my favorite instruments and I think people put more stock in it then they should. I personally prefer the saxaphone despite being a metal head, and the violin. I also really like the banjo for some reason (just a unique sound quality to it). I think people are to narrow focused on guitars but I don't think that means the guitar itself is necessarily over rated either.

Yes, but I think heavy metal is just like... you know want more from rock's side effect to break music structure but they attract those kind of people too.

Guitar is the main instrument but for me I like the piano
