Which of these two fictional robots do you like better? The bulky, strong, muscular RED one, or the sleek, slim, and fast BLUE one?

So I plan to make a professional painting of one of these for my school, and the professor said it's okay despite being copyrighted for this particular assignment...

But I can't choose! I like both of them so much! Help me out here!!!

Omega is generally much more interesting in his design, probably a symptom of being a much newer character than Metal Sonic, who's been part of the franchise almost since the start.
If it's for an art project, there's just more to Omega to paint.

I gotta agree with you 100%, honestly. Metal Sonic is just that... a metal, robot Sonic. While Omega has a pretty unique design that stands out! He's similar to Gamma of course, but Gamma didn't have much of a personality. His story was cool, but he wasn't developed enough to be a character who sticks around forever like Omega is.

Plus, Omega's personality is a lot more interesting. Metal Sonic pretty much has NO personality, since he's literally just a robot copy of Sonic. He's snarky and cocky and overconfident like Sonic, but that's it... he's pretty much just an evil robot Sonic. He was good in his first game, Sonic CD, and made a nice comeback in Heroes as a boss fight... but there's not much to do with his character otherwise, since he's so simple/limited, and can get boring if used too much.

Omega, however, is low-key fucking hilarious. How in a monotone voice he keeps talking about destroying and annihilating everything, and insults everything, and is very sarcastic. He's basically a lovable asshole. And I like the dynamic he has with Shadow and Rouge, despite being just a robot in the end.

And the comics develop him further, and the side games as well. Like when he's smitten with how cute Cream is, and can't take it when she cries... and he also had a crush on Blaze one time. And so on and so forth.

Overall, Metal Sonic doesn't have much of a place in the modern Sonic world besides an occasional burst of nostalgia, like in Sonic Mania.

Shadow fulfills the role of "evil dark version of the main character" much better anyway, as he actually has a completely different personality, besides being just literally "robot Sonic."
