First, I probably won't be alive by then, so I am not too worried.
What _IS_ worrisome is electric power. These robots will burn through their batteries so fast that they won't be able to last long.
Here's a real-world example: Spot from Boston Dynamics.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/qgHeCfMa39Ehttps://support.bostondynamics.com/s/article/Spot-Specifications-49916
"Typical runtime: Approximately 90 minutes"
So, a humanoid robot is going to be at least twice as massive and require at least twice the batteries just to last 90 minutes. Likely more. Batteries are going to make up most of the mass of the robot. The alternative is that the robot is fueled in some way and has an engine like a car. You might be able to get more runtime from the robot, but the dynamics will change as fuel is depleted; this becomes a adaptive issue for its computers. That is, to figure out how to move, it will need to constantly update that based on how much fuel is left. Batteries have constant mass, so you don't need to worry about that.
It's ok, but I think androids (especially female) are a better solution.
Why so?
For a wife, you know, if someone can't find a real woman.
Hm I see.
Thank you for the MHO
We all know the robots are going to be fucked by the people they’re sold to, and in equal amounts those robots will be destroyed because the men who don’t know how to regulate their emotions will stab them and destroy them multiple times before finally throwing them away.
No, that’s just what happens to a lot of the Realdolls sent in for repairs. A lot of them were just straight up stabbed over and over again. Obviously no healthy man uses them to get off
Yes, there are such dolls sent in for not so violent repairs at the factory where the hyperrealistic sex dolls are made
Yes, and obviously some of their unhealthy customers use the dolls to take out their aggressions in a way that causes gashes that need to be repaired.
Whatever helps your defense man, I’m not getting into this with you again
They creep me out tbh. The people who want a robot as a partner especially creep me out.
Yea I guess you’re right.
To me that's just as bad as people who want dogs as a companion

Yeah and flying cars have been predicted every year since about 1955. How's that coming along? We are a loooong way from the tech and engineering that would produce a humanoid robot body that could emulate human movement and behavior. It's not happening in the next 15 to 25 years. Unless aliens park in orbit and sell us the blueprints.
And they have very limited range of motion. Don't look remotely human. Use had plastic and metal bodies. And have very limited operational time. What I'd accept as a humanoid robot would involve synthetic muscle fiber that behaves like organic muscle fiber and a synthetic "skin" that at least looks and feels like human epidermis. And a power source that allows them to operate at moderate output for at least 8 hours. Lots of problems left to solve.
We’re already seeing breakthroughs like MIT’s synthetic muscle fibers made from nylon that contract like real muscle, or Carnegie Mellon’s soft robotics with polymer-based actuators. On the skin front, companies like Hanson Robotics are experimenting with frubber which is a porous, elastic material that mimics human texture. For power, solid-state batteries from quantumscape promise higher energy density, and Toyota’s working on miniaturised hydrogen fuel cells. These could get us to that 8-hour mark within 25 years, especially with AI optimising energy use.
We shall see.
They will come in and replace sales assistants and when we go to a shop we will look for the humanoid to serve us cause they are better and more polite..
I would get one to replace our cleaning ladies. ❤️👍
@Shiprex they only do cleaning… I’m happy with them.
My ex hubby used to tell me to cook like the restaurants we used to go to… well… he divorced me 😂 because I told him I am not a restaurant owner for a reason… even any good chef can’t cook like that.
Sooooo… we live in an area where we have access to allllll these yummy foods.
We are soooo lunch!!
@midnightmoon05
Software to become those chefs that can cook like restaurants would be all it takes.
FWIW his loss (your ex) because if you want to eat food like it's cooked in a restaurant, then learn how to cook like that and make it yourself.
It would be very difficult to live near fast food outlets for me so I just make my own stuff in my own way.
@Shiprex software would be really cool. We certainly love the culture, atmosphere and authenticity when visiting these countries.
When it comes to foods, cleaning … etc… let the expert do their job. I do mine… then enjoy me fruits of labor.
If you know how… that’s awesome!! Enjoy!! Yeah stay away from fast food.
@midnightmoon05
Yeah the idea that you can swap and change the model traits would be amazing. Size, shape too with add ons like upgrade to tennis player, acrobat, weightlifter etc. could be amazing just with a few code changes and pumps here and there.
So many of you act like you never saw sci-fi horror movies. This only ends one way... some dude will be get turned into a human pretzel by one of these things with zero warning. Probably will happen to a lot of people at the same time too.
I expect that they can be useful.
I discussed this recently with my preferred AI.
But we both think that human shape isn't a requirement.
The answer is always no. I think making robots humanoid is more problematic than beneficial.
It will have its use to society. Mostly as a bandaid for lonelyness.
Nay, but it’s coming anyway. We will have slave labor again but hopefully it’s automated robots
Great idea... so long as they can be controlled by the owner.
Bad. But hey no more real women breaking our hearts and wallets. And she won't age either. Sex anytime no arguments.
I think we already have them and testing is to see if we can be fooled by it.
It will all depend on the pricing.
My brother and his wife had a robo vacuum. This really is going to be the future if you can afford it.
It's going to happen but it's all going to be about the price. His vacuum comes out twice per day, does its job, and then goes back to its little garage and recharges itself.
This is the future.
What happened to it? Is it still working?
Out iRobot has been sitting in the corner 😂… too lazy to clean out the dust tray…
We just have our cleaning ladies come do the work… like make the beds, kitchen counters… etc.
There will have to be some regulations.
Where are the Luddites when you need em?
They are advantageous in healthcare.
Who would possibly think this is a good thing
sure, why not.
I'll believe it when I see it.
It’ll help some guys pretend they can get girls
Just no
Finally, it's time
Nayy
