Do you think your music taste has changed as you got older?

i use to be big into rap music but I’ve ditched it for the most part and mainly listen to heavy metal now

Oh yeah, it has become far more eclectic than it used to.

When I was a kid I used to just listen to my parent's music. It was Christian-friendly things. Even stuff like Christian rap.

Then around middle school, I listened to rap songs in order to fit in when I moved to the mostly black schools.

Then after I dropped out, I met people on Xbox that really appreciated oldies. So I really got into that for a bit.

Then around age 17, I got into a short classical music phase. And since then, I've really really appreciated film scores & instrumentals. Helps that I'm a pianist.

Now I actively find songs that maybe aren't very heard of but have a great sound. And this past year, I've really been appreciating lossless audio since I upgraded my equipment a bit. I especially like songs that have great imaging & soundstage. I love the binaural type of audio. Where it feels fully immersive.

It sure has. In middle school and early in highschool all I listened to was nirvana and grungy/alternative music. Then I never thought I'd be caught dead listening to hip hop or rap

From my interest in rock branched into new genres like metal, hip hop, rap, funk, dub, raggae, jazz, etc. I'm very glad about that

Definitely. 😎🤘 I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I used to like rap and hip-hop as a preteen but throughout my highschool years and all the way up until now I've slowly developed a love for heavy metal. This what I have playing right now.

I used to love old music and local as well. As a kid I really liked seeing national artists and listening to them

Thing is, that genre of music here is filled to the brim with innuendos that a young mind doesn't understand. I quickly changed my mind once I began realizing this.

Nowadyas I'm very much into lo-fi. No lyrics, no repetitive chords, just smooth melodies all around.

I actually was just thinking about this the other day. I’ve had a ton of different eras where the music I listen to changed. For example at one point I listened to strictly 80’s-90’s R&B then strictly Gangster rap now I listen to almost solely listen to lady Gaga and anime openings. There was a ton of different things

My music taste has expanded more than changed. When I was 20, I just listened to classic rock from the 60s and 70s. Now, I still listen mostly to that, but appreciate country (if it's not too twangy), acoustic folk, and classical. I still don't like rap or opera.

I’d say I’ve largely gone from various forms of pop, rock and metal, across different eras, as I’ve gotten older, to more modern and alternative styles of metal and popular music, to now, a lot of experimental and electronic stuff really…

Absolutely you continue to grow and experience life. And as such, new sounds will catch your ears. And even older songs you've heard a while ago can end up being appreciated differently as years pass and playlists kind of become time capsules for memories.

I also used to transition from rap to metal when I was about 13. And even the metal has somewhat "softened". I don't listen to death metal much anymore. More clean singing than growling.

As a teen my parents complained that my music is too loud and too wild.
When I had kids, they as well complained that my music is too loud and too wild. I'm waiting now for my neighbours to turn up and complain :)

Oh yeah. Used to listen to only hard rock. Nowadays includes Classical (i. e., Mozart, etc.), Bluegrass (still can't stand country), Progressive Rock, even listen to the Beastie Boys and Nine Inch Nails now.

No it hasn't changed, well sort of. Back in the day my music was called rock music. Now it's called classic rock. The songs are the same but the classification has changed
