People these days can't stand rap only because the first rap song they hear is a song made by guys like little pump or xan or one of those cringey mumblers. Because they chose to listen to those shitty songs, they thinl every rap song is like that.
But they even hate songs written by guys like 2Pac, Notorious BIG, NWA, Snoop Dogg and Eminem, because those songs tell truths sensitive people don't want to hear. I can't blame them. The truth is very hard to embrace.
But it's worth embracing. That's why those rappers will always outdo the modern generation of rappers, even in death.
Let rap haters hate. That's how the most legit of MCs prefer it, truth be told.
I tend to like rap when itâs intermixed with other sounds and genres⊠like if itâs like Gorillaz or something lol, ya know?
If itâs kinda got that alternative or experimental flair, I tend to like it a lot more. Or something like JPEGMAFIA⊠like this is a cool track.
I do not. When I was 16 I was listening to German and French ones little American maybe, but I never like them too much.
The problem with rap they always come from little or no educated people. They haven't musical tunes and similar to pop music they manufactured like a factory product. As a song addict, they don't mean anything to me. I prefer Altingun in Turkish modern songs. Their tune has freshly new side. It's an art form really.
I think that the raps that I prefer to listen to are of high quality.
I lıke Altın GĂŒn because my favorite type of music is Anatolian Rock.
I like rap, people trash the genre because of a few rap songs that are demeaning to women/glorifying gang life. I feel like that kind of rap is dying out and new rap is actually doing creative things with their beats and etc. I would never trash an entire genre just cause of a few bad apples

Rapping is not music. It is a form of musical oratory. Although it is one of the defining components of hip-hop, it has an older origin. The roots of rap can be found in West African music as part of a black historical continuum. For decades it has not entered any musical sphere. From the late 70's it was popularized by bands like Sugar Hill Gang, Kurtis Blow, Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Kool Herc, Treacherous Three, Funky Four Plus One, Kurtis Blow etc...
Do I like the style of singing? No I find it horrible, it has no melody, it remains in the dirt between the end of the millennium and the beginning of the new. If you notice all the music but some niche genres have lost the melody, rap never had it.
The first wave what they call old schol was still listenable. It had a very strong 70s funk and R&B base. Later it became trash made just to make money without a shred of heart.
Not particularly. My tastes are totally opposite of rap. I'm a metalhead 😂 Majority of rap, especially "popular" rap, is just trash. Old school rap is great and there's still some great underground artists nowadays, but I don't know many of them. Like I said, I like metal.
Da metal! đ€
Yesss. I'm listening to some hawt black metal right now.
https://youtu.be/plh22lTpnjY
It's not my favorite, but some of the songs have funny lyrics.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/T3Vp_dMZldYhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/ANB5zTl-nrYAnd I like alternative rap like this
https://www.youtube.com/embed/JEHc4u-1QIkhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/bjb9i5r9incAnd I like German rap
https://www.youtube.com/embed/EE0kjsfRKqshttps://www.youtube.com/embed/RveIJFR7LV4I'm the opposite. I used to like rap now I can't stand it. I saw the way it influenced too many people in a negative way and lead to bad life decisions. Viewing rap "bravado" as a positive thing rather than a glorification of crime and promiscuous sex has lead to the decline of many black households and communities.
I like rap music. I mostly like songs with deep and heart touching lyrics and I don't like trashy rappers like 6ix9ine. I like listening to rap songs from different countries including Turkish rap.
Lyrics are important in rap that's why I can't listen to rap in English because it's too fast and I don't understand it lol.
Which Turkish rappers do you listen to?
I don't understand what they say in Turkish raps other than for a word or two, but I listen to them lol. Normally I listen to Mero, Canbay & Wolker, Reynmen, Saniser and some others. How about you?
ĆanıĆer! I shared a very popular song of him in the update. I also like to listen to Ezhel, ĆehinĆah and Ceza.
I have listened to Susamam. I have heard about Ceza, I know his song suspus. But I don't know ĆehinĆah, never heard of him.
Oh yes, but I'm more old school:

This is about football and I love it

i like, itâs cool i donât pay too much attention to the lyrics but i like little durk, Pooh shiesty, little baby, xxxtentacion, moneybagyo, little uzi vert, little tjay, pop smokeâŠ.
ignore the âlittleâ this app has a weird keyboard.. itâs little
I like a few rap groups. Like these:
Antipop Consortium
The Black Knights
Damn.. these are so fast. I need subtitles but I like the second one.
I like some of all music. When it comes to rap I like older rap better than new stuff although I like mgk and G easy and similar. I like the older rap for example Tupac because when I was younger his music touched my soul. He was just so talented.
The only thing I like about rap nowadays is just the beats. I'm just not into the new wave of rap. I mean it's catchy and sometimes fun but it's not something I listen to in my car. But I love old school rap. I love the 90s and even 00s rap. Also I think my last favorite rapper is Kendrick Lamar. But I can't really think of anyone else after him that I truly like.

Eww, NO. Unless is an anime rap battle parody. But other than that, all I hear from it is ass, drugs, money and a bunch of bullshit. And giving away theyâre soul? HHHJJJLUURGGHEEEUUGGHH⊠And itâs way too artificial.
I don't give a shit about rap. I just donât listen to it because either I hear about having sex or something else and I'm like... Ok bye. And my dad is just that classic white racist, homophobic, etc hater. So it's anything he would just spit on someone or something representing that he doesn't like it or someone.
Meh I thinks its best for getting useful information out there for social and racial justices. I see the talent in it. I dont think its awe inspiring in the slightest tho. Just another artistic statement in most cases to me. Nothing I'd listen regularly to for sure
I like some of it. Got into Future last year. And that through Rick and Morty.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/fjUGC8g4GOEThe words, "rap" and 'music" are mutually exclusive!
If I wanted to listen to someone talk in rhyme, I'd get a bunch of Dr. Seuss talking books while a kid plays with an electric typewriter.
I used to like rap but all but despise it now. There's so much better music out there and you'll be better off listening to the music the "sample" AKA steal because they have no creativity or talent.
I like it because it's it's ironic to listen to music about drugs and murder while shopping for baby food.
Actually not a huge fan, most of it is shit.
Like that astronaut in the ocean song? Does that dumbass mean a diver?
I like some and especially the one's like u said rap songs with a message but for some reason most of them are not in English.
I like it.
Yeah, I'm wondering that too. I guess it has to do with where we live. Nowadays, almost a large part of Turkish rap is political.
Depends on the artist and the rhymes. I really like listen to the old school stuff that I grew up to but not nowadays.
Some rap is ok but a little goes a long way. To me it sounds like someone reading Dr Seuss with a drum machine in the background.
Rap music is a very generic form of music.
It's a person yelling over a repeating drum riff. And nobody is actually playing any drums either. It's all done on computers.
Nope. It's low-brow unskilled trash that anyone who can talk to a beat can make.
There are talented ones. Not everyone can write meaningful and deep words, right?
If you're talented you can make some complex rhyme patterns that's hard to follow.
Real talent is actually playing an instrument or having a great voice. 99% of rap is about partying, sex drugs, or other simplistic aspects of humanity, like being sad someone dumped you. Many rap songs don't even bother to have the vocals flow with the "instrumentals." The vocabulary used is that of a 7th grader, sometimes worse with deliberate misspellings and slang. Many rappers look like the trashiest goons that have ever existed and they die in their early 20s because they're involved in drugs and violence.
You're entitled to your opinion but let me just say:
it's impossible you could have heard it all to make a wide judgment.
Well this is a broad generalization. I don't know enough to generalize because there are four rappers I listen to. All four of them are talented, successful and sensitive to social problems, so I listen.
Define "talk over a beat"
@NightHawk99 It's what rappers do. They make rhymes and repeat them to a beat, sometimes it's autotuned. It's not singing, like actual artists are capable of.
And you think these are just basic nursery rhymes? You are oh so mistaken buddy.
@NightHawk99 I prefer the sound of nursery rhymes. I hum the kookaburra song ever so often.
I see. Simple lyricism is easy for you to understand. More advanced lyricists like Eminem and Nas are too frustrating for you. I understand now.
@NightHawk99 Oh yeah? What's some of your favorite lyrics?
Gotta concentrate, against the clock I race
Got no time to waste, I'm already late, I got a marathoner's pace
Went from addict to a workaholic, word to Dr. Dre
In that first marijuana tapeâguess I got a chronic case (Yeah)
And I ain't just blowin' smoke, 'less it's in your momma's face
I know this time Paul and Dre
They won't tell me what not to say (Nope!)
And though me and my party days
Have all pretty much parted ways
You'd swear to God I forgot I'm the guy that made "Not Afraid"
One last time for Charlamagne
If my response is late, it's just how long it takes
To hit my fuckin' radar, I'm so far away
These rappers are like Hunger Games
One minute, they're mockin' JAY
Next minute, they get their style from Migos or they copy Drake
Maybe I just don't know when to turn around and walk away
But all the hate, I call it Walk-on-Water-Gate
I've had as much as I can tolerate
I'm sick and tired of waitin', I done lost my patience
I can take all of you motherfuckers on at once
You wanted Shady? You got him!
The first verse to Eminem's diss track, Fall. An analyzer will notice he rhymes multiple words and syllables in a single line. Whereas a vast majority of rappers and poets only rhyme one word per line.
@NightHawk99 That's good... I just prefer the vocals to be treated as if they were another instrument, and that they carry the weight of emotion and set the mood of the song.
I know rap has a place in the world, it's just not for me.
On the bright side, you didn't judge based on the shitty songs like most people do.
I like 80s - 90s rap music better than modern rap music
Not saying that there isnât good rap music today, but I think back then there was more good rap music and it was more creative.
Most good rap today is mostly underground.
Yeah, expressing yourself through lyrics and rhymes with a good flow is epic
There are a few rap/trap songs that I like but I usually don't find it appealing to listen to.
Yeah I do not listen to this genre, who even finds enjoyment of listening to rapists?
I love rap. I honestly can't imagine my life without it. It made me who I am today...
Yes. It's not bcs of the song but it's bcd of the singer. They look so charismatic
Im the opposite i really liked it when i was in my teens then as i got older really started to dislike it.
Much prefer rock, house, edm, folk and a whole bunch of other music.
But each to their own.
I hate Turkish Rap Music. Mainly because I am fluent in English, German Russian, Arabic, Pashtun, Persian
Hate? Instead of hating, you can say I don't understand.
@TurkishGirl_ but what if it is more authentic & accurate for him to say "hate?"
"Deep lyrics"?
If rapping about fucking hoes and bitches is your definition of "deep" I guess.
Lol. Are you talking about the song I shared? If so, I just shared this because I love it. If you're curious, I can share a song with âdeep lyricsâ.
You clearly only heard the shitty songs and judged from that.
Real rap is about hardships, not being a retarded fuckboy.
I like specific artists but not so much the genre as a whole if that makes sense.
I like the art of the MC, I'm not so on board with people agreeing with what's being said just because it sounds cool or catchy.
Love rap⊠from old school to modern⊠just has that vibe to it and what you said regarding having a lot to say regarding social issues.
The kindest thing I can say about rap is that it has a low ceiling when it comes to quality. Even the best songs aren't particularly profound. It became popular because it's relatively inexpensive to make and produces simple earworms.
Very little of it. I used to hate it all, but I've found some that's very creative and moving.
Enjoyed early rap like Run-DMC & MC Hammer. But gangsta rap came and ruined it, IMHO.
I don't like it because I have a different taste in music.
Nah I'm over it. It got to main stream and generic now
I Love it because it makes me love who I am and even get some words of empowerment when listening to it.
"They react to social and political problems"
Thrash metal - Am i a joke to you?
Thrash metal?
Well. It's not a common type of music where I live.
I've never heard of. Which groups?
I despise rap. it's the most repugnant, awful genre or so called music. and rapping about bling, bitches, violence, and money, is hardly deep lyrics.
Before when it was about the struggle now it's Like, skeet skeet RA yeet spra
No. I find this kind of "music" extremely irritating and upsetting to be exposed to.
Im not a big fan of rap but every now and then i find a rap song i like im not big on caring about the lyrics just the music
People that dont like rap dont understand the wordplay 😁
Rap is not music. Music has melody. Rap is just vulgarity set to a click-track.
LOL@ "lyrics are often deep" This statement is a definite candidate for the funniest statements ever made on GAG
Ok blue anonymous lol.
I can turn into a blue NON anonymous if you wish and if you don't, I'd understand
Doesnât matter.
Okay. Take care
No, besides maybe one or two artists occasionally.
Yeah I only listen to a few guys too.
I listen to underground rappers more than I do mainstream rappers.
Can't spell crap without rap
Yes, the old school kind
Here and there but I'm generally not a fan.
Yes I like it the American style
No. They all sound so similar.
Not really. But no worse than country.
I like some sure
i used to hate it but now i like some of it
Rap music is an oxymoron. It's not music at all.
