No, I do not. And I actually worked for celebrities before doing executive protection some ten years ago. I think people like to live vicariously through celebrities and pretend like they are them, or that they are the best friends of these people, because "everyone knows them."
Honestly, I used to want to be one of them, when I was younger. I wanted the power and influence they had on the masses. But when I got older, I realized they're nothing more than puppets and have no real power. Especially since Cancel Culture is now a thing, unfortunately. You can have one of the most powerful people in the world, like Donald Trump, and all it takes are a few social media soyboys like Zuckerberg or Dorsey to completely deplatform him off the entire internet. There's also the recent Disney lawsuit with Scarlett Johannson, arguably the highest paid actress in Hollywood. She's pretty much going to be Persona Non Grata, from here on out.
No, celebrities don't have any real power, at all. They're just puppets used to manipulate the masses. I can't believe I didn't realize that when I was younger.10 Reply

So what is it about... envy? Some.
It's definitely aspirational.
Being knowledgeable about what's going on in pop culture is its own type of knowledge. Zero is to be gained from knowing what all those idiot Kardashians are up to. But understanding their influence, their impact on some minds, is information.
Knowing trends (and the lesser, fads) keeps one sort of young and more nimble in the mind. There's a wide range between being an early-adopter and a person consumed by the consumerism of fads.
Celebrities are quite often the most beautiful/handsome. But not always. Sometimes they are famous for something entirely different. (Like a homemade porn video that got 'accidentally' leaked. And then they use this, to parlay their way into other 'successes.')
Sometimes celebrities are great artists. They move us with their storytelling. They are social commentators of the world, describing and reflecting the current zeitgeist.
I can appreciate some for their sensitivity and observational natures. Or for what they produce as art (but I don't really want to hear their views on the world's politics.)
I have no interest in 'celebrities.' But I do really appreciate good art and artists.
And great thinkers, progressive minds that push the envelope and humanity into the future. Sometimes. Depends what their agenda is.20 Reply
+1 yIt depends how you define “care.” Like do I hope they’re happy and healthy? Yes, just because they’re celebrities doesn’t mean that they aren’t human and I’d want any human to have good wellbeing. But do I care to the point where I let them influence my life so much I basically become a discount version of them? Lol no. I do take things from celebrities like fashion inspiration if I like their style but I don’t copy them if that makes sense- like I take inspiration from them, but make it my own if that makes sense.
And I guess I care about celebrities to a certain extent because their work means something to me, it did something for me, and who they show us they are seems like a pretty good person, so why wouldn’t I? Like with Zendaya for example, I grew up watching her on the Disney Channel and then she was in Spider-Man and the Greatest Showman and Euphoria were just incredible. With Olivia Rodrigo I remember I was listening to her songs before she blew up, like I was a fan of Drivers License before she even officially released it- and again, she’s really good at what she does, she is phenomenal as a writer and her work captures the feelings you’re too scared to talk about, like heartbreak, self-destructiveness, jealousy- and speaks about them for you, making you feel kinda heard I guess? It’s like, I respect Zendaya and Olivia for what they do, and it’s made a difference in my life so yeah I do care about them to a certain extent, but not too much to the point where they become my life lol.20 Reply
I think it goes back to the idea that we want what we don't have. For a lot of people, those people are living the life they would want to have, or at least idolize. So now you have a bunch of people that will put celebrities on a pedestal simply because they embody what they would want, so kind of like trying to live through them even if they are just a fan. Also, a lot of people will see them as saviors (especially artists/musicians) if they help them through tough times through their music, but I'm sure there is a lot deeper reason as to they do. Personally, I have never put too much attention to celebrities since it won't really affect my life, even if I saw a celebrity in person I would never ask for a picture or anything I would just ignore them as they would do to me.

I used to care about celebrities, but experienced an awakening spiritually a couple years back and ever since then, it feels weird to put so much time and energy into strangers that just have cool jobs.
I can appreciate their talent but I really couldn’t care less about keeping up with their daily lives, I have my own life to focus on.20 Reply1.2K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. For several reasons I think. Sometimes they're bored with their own lives and need to see someone who has a more interesting life. Other times they admire the person, want to be like them. Other times they have a crush on the celebrity and in some cases they're obsessed with the celebrity.

+1 yGood question, one I ask myself.. They're just people like you or I, just with more money and more in the public eye. I respect their talent, but not going to treat them like they're Gods... My husband was a very talented drummer, just wasn't famous... But does that mean his talent meant less or he was less special, hell no not to me..
10 ReplyI would hate it when people try to put their nose in my business and gossip about my life. I want privacy in my life and I respect everyone's privacy so I don't really care about what they are living like. I just enjoy their works and respect it because it is their work which is meant to be shared not their lives.
10 Reply414 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. No, I don't give a flip about them! I have never admired nor envied them. Most of them want us to be envious of them. I think they all have a screw loose wanting so much attention all of the time. Look at me! Don't you wish you were me? That's what they want in life. Sad.
10 ReplyNot necessarily… I like learning about their background stories and how they became who they are and also what their next career move will be like (movies or songs). That’s about it I don’t really care about what goes on in their lives as much as others do. It’s just a preference.

+1 yI've been wondering that for years. I've seen people get overly obsessed and heard of fans going way overboard crazy... seriously, just thank them for their work and treat them like people, if you ever meet them. I don't know, why people get super obsessive about celebrities, who don't even know who the fuck they are, let alone care.
I've spoken with a few celebs and watched YouTube channels where they talked about their fan interactions; all of them feel super uncomfortable when dealing with obsessive fans, especially those who fan-gasm, or give unconsenting hugs. They are tired and they appreciate the fans, but they just want to be treated as people.
Ask if you want to give them a hug, and tell them "thank you, for all that you do to entertain and inspire others", that's all that they want.00 Reply
+1 yDepends.
Do I care about David Gilmour? Yes, I play guitar and he's been a massive inspiration for me.
Do I care about John Legend? Like Gilmour and guitar, I play piano and sing, and John Legend is an idol of mine.
Do I give a shit about the Kardashians? Fuck no, and why the fuck should I?00 Reply- 2.1K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic.
+1 yThey admire the things they do. Maybe they stand for something good. nothing wrong with liking or caring about that (unless that person is a nuisance. I'm looking at you paul brothers)
When you make them your God and would kiss the ground they walk on, I see it as mentally unhealthy.
I admire George Lucas, Adam Savage, John Frusciante, Viggo Mortensen.00 Reply I think it’s better to care about celebs than bozo influencers. At least celebs have achieved something. How do you explain all the sheep following random nobody’s who call posting photos on an app their job?
10 ReplyI do not care about today’s entertainers more than I care about most other people.
The entertainers about whom I cared are dead: Elvis Presley, John Wayne, Charlton Heston, Errol Flynn, Sir Alec Guiness, Dame Margaret Rutherford, Lord Sir Laurence Olivier, Basil Rathbone and others.00 Reply
+1 yIf people knew how terrible the majority of celebrities are they would want nothing to do with it. That show The Boys really shows an accurate portrayal of celebrity. Some of their art is really amazing. But beyond that. The vast majority of celebrities are either psychopathic, sociopathic, or narcissistic. Some of the stuff that they do, you would not believe.
10 Reply658 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I think they care because they like to keep up with famous people. They want to see what's going on in their lives. I don't care about celebrities too much. Maybe just a handful

It's all drama, as I suspect most relationships are.10 Reply I don’t have an opinion on celebrities, since I’m not interested in their lives. They’re just people I don’t know, with a high profile job (or not, as the case often is!)

Other then that, I don't care.

So why would I give a damn about some random celebrity?10 Reply- 2.4K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic.
+1 yNope, don't care. I never understood why people (women in particular) are so interested in the private lives of celebrities. To me, that's just a sign of insecurity about who they are... wanting to be like someone else.

00 ReplyThey tend to be attractive people who are living their lives in a way that brings them notoriety and attention in a way that a lot of people desire for themselves.

10 ReplyThey are nothing more than entertainers. I don't care about their lives. I don't care about their beliefs. They have no influence on me.
10 ReplyNot so much in regards to superficial/fake celebrities like the Kardashians. However, when it's genuine I do follow. Prime example was when like Robin Williams passed away. That struck me hard for some reason.
00 ReplyI will say there are different degrees like rappers compared to movie/tv or sports for me but essentially all are just entertainers could care less about any other aspect of their life because they are just there to entertain.
