The Big 4 (Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth) are good. Tremonti, Gojira, Myles Kennedy, Slash, AC/DC, Pantera, Slipknot, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Black Label Society, Jasta, Killswitch Engage, Audioslave, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Crobot, Bad Wolves, Five Finger Death Punch, Shinedown, Rage Against the Machine, Judas Priest, Nonpoint, Pop Evil, Sevendust, System of a Down, Saliva, Stone Sour, Trivium, Volbeat, Godsmack, Dirty Honey, Stone Temple Pilots, Avatar. All That Remains, Avenged Sevenfold, Breaking Benjamin, Alter Bridge, Motorhead, Rob Zombie.
These are what's coming to mind from my playlist, but it really depends on your taste of hard rock and heavy metal.

Linkin Park and Disturbed is good. Pentatonix or PTX is the greatest accapella group and do incredible covers and mashups of songs. Hellujaha or Amazing Grace are very beautiful and might make you cry as Daft Punk or Bohemian Rhapsody will blow your mind.

Those genres are pretty wide and complex genres. Metal alone has about a bazillion subgenres. I would recommend you writing down a few bands you especially like so people have a general idea what direction to go.
