Men don't know how to interact or court women when they are young and have to learn by trial and error. Those movies that do that sappy stuff we have seen and grew up with were our point of reference to what we thought was the right way to do romance and it was actually the exact opposite.
Few movies got actual romance down right. If men follow what they learned in movies they come off as creepy stalkers to women and the sad thing is they don't know any better until it's too late.

They're bad because they give guys a false sense of reality. They make women out to be purely emotional creatures (don't get me wrong They are emotional but not completely). The narrative in all rom-coms is all a guys has to do is profess his love to a woman and she'll see he's the man she's been searching for and fall madly in love with him. Which is just absurd lol.
Yes, I think it's right up there with men watching porn and expecting everything to be just like they see. While we both give it a "good honest try", he won't pull off the perfect romantic "movie date", and I'm not a airbrushed / edited porn star.
Anybody who watches any film, regardless of gender, regardless of genre and thinks “yeah, that’s how it works” is an idiot.

I'm a product of growing up watching romantic movies, and just movies in general.
They can be good in that movies can rub off on a person and can give them a very, idealistic, romantic and entertaining personality. Movies are also bad because they don't show the good the bad and the ugly side of relationships.
They end happily ever after, they don't usually show the lovebirds drifting apart, her cheating on him, and him becoming an alcoholic. You know it’s not real?
it’s a movie, it pretty much never shows real life,
Anyone believing these things happen in real needs committed.
Movies portray the nirvana of how someone should invariably be.
or rather the extremes.No. Grow up.
They are only fucking films made for entertainment, not realities you must follow.
If you're really following cues from films... you must be American, and failing in life as a result. I still laugh at the teen something dumbass from Detroit who was arguing on Twitter with me about The Titanic being a film not based on any actual events as she would have "heard about it".I think it's a matter of taste or even mood. I'm a girl and there are days I just want to see some explosions and car chases not sobbing for a long lost love.
I mean they could be pretty accurate for some people in days gone by. They are outdated by today's standards though.
Lol that's kind of like blaming superhero movies for setting unrealistic expectations... Also if you think romance films are bad, try reading a romance novel.
Basically, any that don't show & respect the severe risks & sacrifices involved on both sides.
Because like porn. it tries to basically make things look like that's how life is. But, it's not
I didn’t know romantic films are bad for guys, explain how
